It appears to be an attempt from an NDTV insider to create unrest among BJP cadre. Besides, we all know who pays NDTV's bills. Barkha Dutt, their senior-most political editor was clearly exposed as an agent of the Congress party by the Radia tapes. Yet, NDTV took no action; it even scheduled a bogus show to allow Barkha to provide her explanation. We also know that Sonia Singh, the editorial director of NDTV is the wife of RPN Singh, a Congress minister. So, who are we kidding to think that NDTV is neutral?

When they are in the business of reporting news, they need to be very cautious about spreading wrong news especially if that news is going to have an impact on elections. I don't think it will be a permanent boycott though. On the broader question of whether a party must not boycott a certain media house if they believe that the media house is biased against it, I have a counter question. Would Arvind Kejriwal or Rahul Gandhi or for that matter Raj Thakeray agree to an interview with Saamna, the Shiv Sena mouthpiece? I would think not because no matter how credibly they answer the questions, they will still be projected in poor light because of the partiality of the media house. NDTV may not exactly be the equivalent of Saamna since they at least claim to be neutral, but I guess you get my point. Besides, I don't think this boycott will be permanent. I believe they want to send a message to NDTV that they cannot just manufacture stories and sell them as news.

Despite NDTV's pro Cong bias, it is still much, much more a "news" agency than Saamna (or mouthpieces of other parties) will ever be. Of course it will not be permanent. In fact even in the press release BJP said that they had decided to boycott it for the time being. So most probably it will be lifted soon. But I do not think the boycott is because of Sushma Swaraj's tweet (which she never made) - that is just a pretense. BJP is sending them a message - we are coming to power in 2 months so you'd better stop being pro Cong or you'll be hurt.

Why should any one keep quite whn some media houses trying to create friction within party? NDTV is a commercial venture not charity organization to go without any accountability.

NDTV is not doing too well in terms of ratings. For first time the bias has been explicitly put out in the open. I think NDTV will be forced to change its ways.

In both these seats the party already has MPs and both of them are quite senior so they should get the first preference while deciding the candidates (this ALWAYS happens in all elections in BJP and even in other parties - if a senior leaders is a MP/MLA then his ticket is not, and should not be, cut without his/her consent) and their tickets should not be cut without their consent. Modi and Rajnath Singh's supporters have come in large numbers in Varanasi and Lko to pressurize the MPs from these seats - this is shameful and bullying behavior from the party's PM candidate and National Prez. Modi is from Gujarat so he should contest form there whereas Rajnath is currently MP from Ghaziabad so why is he running away from there?
Texan Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 IMO I do not believe anybody should contest elections from more than one seat. Not Modi, not Kejriwal, not Rahul Gandhi, not anybody. Contesting elections from 2 constituencies is a waste of national resources in conducting by-polls if the candidate wins both seats. As far as this seat distribution issue is concerned that has started making news, I feel that the BJP has unnecessarily needled with some senior leaders to create this controversy. When the issue of the PM post was already resolved, there was absolutely no need to antagonize some of the senior party leaders. Modi should contest from Gujarat, where he has worked all his life and there is no need for him to contest from UP.
