Old guy Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Duleep Trophy final and injury to Nechim changed his fortunes. Otherwise' date=' how many knew what he does before that. Umesh Yadav also came into limelight through Duleep trophy in 2008.[/quote'] yep and what a spell that was in final! yes there was luck involed with him getting in team but not many would have grabbed opertunity so well anyway if he can polish his skills there is no reason why he wont be succesful cos he can move the ball both ways and has decent control and line and length (right now better then yadav! )
jairamesh Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 good going from Majumdar and Mandeep, wonder if India will make a sporting declaration...

Good that the selectors went by his potential and drafted him into the team, because he had a pretty average Ranji season this year.
Magneto Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 why isnt mukund carrying on ? got some starts in this tour didnt converted any...still better than what he did in west indies :cantstop: also i like this team more ...guys who actually need exposure are getting it would have still loved to see rahane here cos he never gets a game and will end up debuting in south africa As I said earlier, I like this team much more than the fat, podgy slobs who went to WI-A and were in 'Bachao, bachao' mode all throughout. These guys were hungry for an opportunity and they are trying their best. Even Mukund has got 2 forties and a sixty in 5 knocks, which is 2.5 times more than what he did in WI. Rahane being here would have meant Chand's exclusion; I'm glad Chand is playing and learning from it. Rahane has toured England, Australia, WI and has a fair idea by now how those wickets behave and how he continuously sucks in those wickets. :cantstop:

Good that the selectors went by his potential and drafted him into the team' date=' because he had a pretty average Ranji season this year.[/quote'] We yet to see how he does in flat conditions in Ranji trophy this year and he had average season because firstly he did not play all matches and secondly played mostly in flat conditions.

Pujara, Rahane, Mukund, Rohit, Dhawan, Saha no one is fat in them and regarding their failure, conditions in WI were harder for batsmen, uneven bounce, two-paced tracks.

rkt.india Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 The vada-pao eating fat slob :cantstop: Rohit is not fat and was not even then.

He did not play all matches because he got thrashed in flat conditions. But this year he'll have a full run, so hopefully he'll do well in flat wickets too.

rkt.india Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 agar ye fat hai to 90% Indian team cricketers are fat from Dhoni to Raina.
Magneto Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 agar ye fat hai to 90% Indian team cricketers are fat from Dhoni to Raina. Baju mein Gibbs hai. For a reference for an international sportsman. For us I guess anyone slimmer than Romesh Powar is in good shape.
rkt.india Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Baju mein Gibbs hai. For a reference for an international sportsman. For us I guess anyone slimmer than Romesh Powar is in good shape. Kohli, Tiwary, and Irfan are our own examples in front of them. I tell you most players in Indian team are not supposed to what an international athlete should look like. Dhoni, Sehwag, Chawla, SRT, Raina, Zak, Ashwin, Rohit though he has looks more slimmer and fitter than others now. Harbhajan is very fit too.

Rohit, for his age, is way too chubby (though he's become better now). I don't have a problem with Raina though, since he's lightning fast.

Train well, bleed less. Mithun and Umesh Yadav are two of the fittest Indian cricketers.

MCcricket Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Shami should play for India this year, he mostly targets the stumps, has ability to move the ball both ways at pace and a good short one with very good rhythmic action,he can easily bowl between 135 to 145 k.The first ball he bowled on debut for IPL was 144 k, he should be selected for test's, also seems to have the aggression and confidence. It is not about picking them up too early, as talent is one criteria, Indian pacers have been fading away due to fitness issues and mind set, RP , Munaf, Sreesanth, VRV, Tyagi. The only way for our pacers to improve after playing a year or two in domestic cricket would be County or A tours or Indian team as bowlers do no get exposure to planning , execution, training compared to Australian and English fast bowlers in India.

This is an old pic. He had gained a lot of weight then, but now he is a lot fitter.
