Then I would believe size of his balls, which led him into this state. Anyway, I was talking about his whole life - this particular move might be tagged as desperate move, but he landed here because of his big balls :) The USA wont try to kill him. Way too much negative publicity considering they always lecture other countries to improve their records on free speech. What they will do is persecute him indirectly through the Swedish case and keep a check against him releasing any damning information in the future.

Preaching is one thing, and sticking by values (no matter what) is another. Especially when someone/somewhere might reveal your dirty little secrets. Even though USA's legal system is relatively better - but that is for small cases. When the stakes are high, and might damage their reputation on international matters - all such values and stuff are swept under the carpet. Follow that reddit thread above, about the various possibilities/justifications/predictions etc.

Mr. Carr said he has received no hint from two discussions with American officials that they have a plan to extradite Mr. Assange to the U.S. Australian-born 40-year-old Mr. Assange has sought political asylum at Ecuador’s embassy in London, fearing he could face the death penalty in the U.S. over the WikiLeaks’ release of secret diplomatic cables. Mr. Carr said Mr. Assange’s argument was with one government — the Swedish government — who want to question him about sexual assault allegations. “It’s not about WikiLeaks, it’s not about secrets, it’s not about political persecution,” Mr. Carr said. He further said that Australia had made representations to the Swedish government on behalf of Mr. Assange. “There is a view that it would be easier for the U.S. to extradite him from the U.K. rather than from Sweden, where he is wanted for questioning about (matters) wholly unrelated to anything to do with WikiLeaks or state secrets,” he said. We trust the UK will offer the necessary guarantees so that both governments can act adequately and properly respect international rights and the right of asylum. I would have more respect for Wikileaks and for Assange if they limited their involvement to Whistle blower type activity where an individual can expose an organization (including govt) involved in illegal activities than leaking govt classified information and embarrassing governmental exchanges.
