The Outsider Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 One can go two ways here - choose the best keeper of the best keeper/batsman. Personally, I would go for the best keeper given a line up which is already so strong.

There was this strange obsession with Healy wrt test matches while Gilly was winning odis with his bat. Its as if you're a very good attacking batsman automatically means you cant be a very good wicket keeper in the longer form of the game.

ganeshran Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Gilchrist was no mug with the gloves and often underrated in the keeping department. He kept against Warne quite well. Healy was a slightly better keeper but the difference between them was not so much. But when batting skills are taken into account, there is no competition. Overall, Gilly adds much more value to the side than Healy

jairamesh Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Abit harsh on the exclusion of Prior and Prasanna Jayawardene, the former has improved leaps and bounds to give the World No.1 Test team's batting some real omph and latter an excellent keeper and decent bat.
