I am no fan of Tony Greig - quite the contrary. However, that is a separate discussion and if you ask me someone who went on rebel tours implicitly supporting apartheid and who lured young cricketers into the ICL without even making an effort or guaranteeing that they were paid up later, should not have been giving the MCC spirit of cricket lecture. Even in his speech I find quite a few things which don't make sense, my amusement stems from the way my internet humvatanzzz react to such things. I've said this before and I'll say it again.. Cricket more and more is becoming about rules and regulation and less and less about actually playing cricket or making it easier on the players. This is very typical of Nanny government administrations where government tells you what to do and what to think. Taking up or not wanting to take up UDRS has NOTHING to do with the "spirit of cricket"... Tomorrow these control freaks will come up with a new rule about cricket body implementing a surcharge tax on individual players' income.. and if you protest.. you'll be called "not in line with the spirit of the game"... BS. Cricket is NOT about getting 100% correct decisions all the time using technology.. it is about striving to get 100% correct decisions using Human Skills.. and since that is impossible.. it is about working in the Human errors and mistakes as part of the game. What next? Robotic fielders should be allowed because they are more efficient? Completely replace umpires with computers in all games so that there are practically zero errors?? This is typical socialistic crap where they go over-board with their need for perfection that they forget the basics of human dynamics or the importance of keeping something basic and simple as it was meant to be. Absolutely!!They should take a leaf out of England and Aus when they ruled. From now on, 1. BCCI should have veto powers on everything ICC decides. We should actually go one up and have 2 veto powers just in case pawar wants to go against srinivasan. 2. We should remove the rule to pay 10% of all foreign player signing to their respective boards. Eng never did it in counties nor do any other T20 league does it now. 3. All WC from now on will take place only in India. Not even SL and BD should expect to stage the WC. 4. Lets also not ask NOC from players. If they want to play in IPL, let them come without any hassle. 5. BCCI should get 70% of ICC's profit. 6. We should play 75% of our games at home and play 75% of our games against Aus, Eng and SA. 7. We should also make it more spinner friendly or change rules to help our team just like Eng introduced the bouncer rule.
