Vilander Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Thats exactly how the whole world works. But hey, the cricketers should sacrifice their potential to earn and adhere to idiots like tony's opinion. The amount of ignorance, stupidity and hypocrisy in cricinfo and in its comments is just insane. Does even one of them stop and think, what if they were in the other person's shoes? pro India practical comments are not posted, only anti india giberish from pak bd characters and whinging from others and some apologies by indian conformists are posted. its patheitc, i am planing to stop visiting cricinfo except for stats.

Can understand Pak guys haaving a go because of their inborn hatred, but hate these holier than thtou commennts from some indians themselves - so eager to gain some phoren guys' appn and bask in the glory of "look-at-me-so-unbiased" feelin - hav seen a few of that kind here as well.
carnish Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Absolutely!!They should take a leaf out of England and Aus when they ruled. From now on, 1. BCCI should have veto powers on everything ICC decides. We should actually go one up and have 2 veto powers just in case pawar wants to go against srinivasan. 2. We should remove the rule to pay 10% of all foreign player signing to their respective boards. Eng never did it in counties nor do any other T20 league does it now. 3. All WC from now on will take place only in India. Not even SL and BD should expect to stage the WC. 4. Lets also not ask NOC from players. If they want to play in IPL, let them come without any hassle. 5. BCCI should get 70% of ICC's profit. 6. We should play 75% of our games at home and play 75% of our games against Aus, Eng and SA. 7. We should also make it more spinner friendly or change rules to help our team just like Eng introduced the bouncer rule. Excellent reply to the British *****

The Indians who manage cricinfo are elitist liberals who think their farts don't stink and that the rest of the masses need to be told what to believe in and how to think. They are pro-authority nanny government believers. Rest of us "uneducated" and "unsophisticated" bourgeoisie class have to look up to them to know what is right or wrong.
MechEng Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Let's make few things clear..... If the World dislikes India's ignorance of DRS, then that's perfectly okay. But if the World blames India for destroying Test Cricket, then that's pure whinging. BCCI is not a saintly body which will compromise corporate gain for "the good of old Test Cricket". Manchester United, New York Yankees, Laker's and all such major sporting clubs lay STRONG EMPHASIS on financial gain, and if BCCI is doing it thru IPL, why the whinging??? Just because England can't COMPETE with India's financial strength, you can sense their whinging.
MechEng Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Secondly, if England is so worried about the future of Test Cricket..... 1.) Why do they have T20 championship tournaments in County Cricket? 2.) Why are they inviting Australia to play 5 match ODI series, which begins tomorrow? England did nothing for the good of Test Cricket tbh. We all remember when the Roberts, Garner, Holding and Marshall were bowling fiery short balls to England batsmen, they decided to limit the number of bouncers in Tests, since they were *****ing in their pants while facing the quartet.:finger:

Those comments make BCCI look like a communist organisation who are punishing every person who watches Tests. Seriously, if people are watching IPL why the **** is the BCCI to be blamed for that?. As someone said "Khisiani billi, khamba noche.". This seems to be the classic case of these India haters.
goggi Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 IPL and BCCI needs to split. BCCI should concentrate on the well being of cricket in India and promoting it through grass-roots, and global leadership. And let IPL concentrate what it does best.

BCCI should concentrate on the well being of cricket in India and promoting it through grass-roots, and global leadership. And let IPL concentrate what it does best. This I agree with and there should be no "conflict of interest", i.e. no position holder or functionary of BCCI, including selectors, should have any stake in IPL or its franchises.

This conflict of interest is a big nonsense and India is proclaiming to the world at large, that we are happy to live with contradictions and have no sound ethical principles. At least, when there are such conflict of interests, people usually keep the matters hidden and I have never seen blatant exhbition of this kind in anything this big.

It is absolutely disgusting how deep the fingers of Srini, Srikanth, Niranjan, etc are embedded into the IPL private franchises. These guys are taking the public for the ride. It will take a scandal of massive proportions to bring ethics and moral into the BCCI boardroom.

But has there been any proof of his malpractices ? I wonder how he is surviving if what everybody says abt him is true. he def looks like a tamil movie villain. Srikanth is more a figure head guy, i dont think he is big enough to be corrupt.

Lurker Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 LMAO - does he understand how contradictory is that? He does not want money, but he wants money because a. He thinks he is **** and going to get dropped from Ind team. b. He is not skilled in anything else. c. He has got a family to provide for. Well, that'd be exactly what 99.99% of cricketers who opt for T20 instead of tests would say. we need money to fund our needs, not to sit on. WOW! Is that how you read it? Seriously? Maybe there is a generational thing at play here. Maybe you are too young to even understand the concept of a career (read - working for a company for decades), specially in the modern era where we all jump ships every 3 months, or 2 years depending on who bids highest for us gun-for-hire. Read the last line carefully, it is that of a man somewhat in his early 30s realizing that he needs to have a career and not some quick money...which is what Tony Greig seems to be asking. Dont give me money, give me a career that can help provide for me and my family long term. Odd how same paragraph can be construed differently by different people.
Lurker Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Tony Greig has no cause to feel anything but proud about his involvement with World Series Cricket - as seminal a turning point as any the game has seen http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/570263.html - Tony Greig Thought that was a pretty touching and decent article by MarK N. He has started to follow into the foosteps of Roebuck and cranks some real good articles lately.

Odd how same paragraph can be construed differently by different people. :cantstop: If he was thinking that, why did he come to play cricket in the beginning? Not as if he was thinking he would be playing into his 50s in test cricket, was he? Come on now, Whether he wanted a long career or immediate money, the motive and dedication to test kirkut, the same thing he is edifying now, was absent back then. People at the end of day have families to take care of. Some may settle for quick cash (well 99.9999%) and some others opt for a long career. Whatever be it, the motive is to become financially sound. Seriously at loss to understand how people are trying to justify Grieg while apply different yardstick to IPL, and bring in test cricket as a clincher. Grieg just did not want to play test cricket, and ran away from it at the first opportunity, but most players who make a big buck or two at IPL are still willing to turn up in whites for their country.
ganeshran Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 What Greig did with WSC is no different from what cricketers are doing today with IPL, no matter how much sentimentality is invoked trying to justify his decision back then. With three formats and a demanding calendar, cricketers today have a very limited shelf life with no guarantee of a spot in the playing XI if they hit a prolonged run of poor form. Except the top tier of cricketers, endorsement money isnt that much for others with the major chunk of their incomes coming from contract retainers, match fees and IPL pay packets. When faced with a dilemna, they will undoubtedly go for choices that guarantees them a secure financial future. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this as they have mouths to feed too.
asterix Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Today's cricketers don't even have the luxury to ask/demand for a long and safe career... Whatever might've been the high quality of cricket in WSC, at the end of day, they ditched their teams and test cricket...
goggi Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 iphones, ipads, fuel costs, inflation, today's cricketers are just trying to support their families.
