Why celebrate 4th innings achievements? It's more less an indication of poor team performance. The reason Steve Waugh does not even have 1000 runs in 4th innings is because Australia hardly had to score many runs in the 4th innings to win/draw/survive etc. Test matches are won in the 1st innings.

Ah yes, like his pathetic average really hurt Australia's chances to win Tests. Steve Waugh played over 150 Tests, and he was probably required like 10 times in the 4th innings through career. Pakistan always end up playing 4th innings, hence more chances to score big runs. Like I said being good at 4 innings shouldn't really anything special unless someone has a high win ratio for his team. In the context of winning a Tests match, 1st innings is what counts in terms of batting.

Really? Leading Australia to the longest consecutive run of Tests win! Won the highest number of Tests in the history of cricket after Ponting and Warne. I think you are missing the context of 4th innings, Australia never needed him in the 4th innings, so I wouldn't count it as a blot if didn't have enough opportunities.
