^ It's probably more to do with the attitude towards missing a game. He's essentially saying, "Oh its ok, everyone misses a game." ... Contrast this to Mitchell Starc who was rested from the 2nd Test vs Sri Lanka. He said he was absolutely shattered to not be playing (even though he was not dropped but just rested). That hunger to go out there and constantly prove yourself doesn't seem to be there. Especially for someone who has struggled recently with the ball.

Torres is not a great player anymore he has been below average for the last 2yrs since leaving Lpool which is why he gets left out. Ashwin is never going to be a great spin bowler, average at best.
