carnish Posted September 2, 2012 Author Posted September 2, 2012 Target --- 260 India will get 261 if they win else <200 ... i.e If batting collapses we go all out before 200 but if we do ok ... we will win convincingly .. no close contest
Ultimate_Game Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 other then rohit i totally agree cos if we are doing it from scratch then find some one who is in form for now Nope we need to build for the long haul. There aren't any better options at the moment than Rohit for Test middle order spot. Badrinath is not an answer and likes of Mukund and Dhawan haven't done much. Selectors need to have a chat with Rohit and tell him he will get 4-5 Tests no matter what. I want likes of Rahane, Rohit, Pujara to get a long and fair run with the team and if they can't step up given a fair oportunity then let's look for other options. But I won't hold Rohit or Rahane's shorter format performances against them.
Old guy Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Well selectors cocked-up for an opportunity to re-build, all changes were forced by circumstances. What's worse, the only chance to monitor potential replacement before England series is the India A tour to NZ in October. The Ranji season starts around same time as England tour. So can't even ask the likes of Sehwag, Tendu, and Gambhir to get some form back in domestic circuit. There is no ODIs before the 1st Eng Test, so again the likes Sehwag, Tendu, and Gambhir miss out to play some international cricket. This is not looking good. The only realistic player that could come into the current squad is Shami Ahmed, if does really well in NZ. ahmed will do well...but cant see him coming in team..i hope we find few batting replacements quickly specially the openers is rahane in tht tour ? hope he does well

ganeshran Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Captain should be changed before it becomes 0-8 at home as well.. This. If we cant beat Kiwis at home, responsibility needs to be taken at the top and Dhoni should resign.
Crookbond Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Senior players should also take more responsibility.
GautiMaan Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Well if changes are really gonna happen,i will root for the Kiwis to win this
yoda Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 When your critical #4 spot is taken up by a walking wicket, start from there. Tendulkar's selfishness is showing more by the day where the guy simply doesn't gives a feck about the team's chances, as long he "enjoys" playing the game. Gambhir should come back to form, at least age is on his side. Sehwag ideally should move down the order, although we don't necessarily have another great opener to take his spot.
Number Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Yes MSD should be sacked and Gambhir should be made the non-playing captain. MSD has done hardly anything wrong, yes I'm one of the critic of his captaincy. Its the top order who is letting him down on a 500+ wickets. Even he as a lower order bat is scoring good runs, Ashwin is scoring runs. And 3 out of top 4 are walking wickets. Sehwag, Gambhir, Zaheer and Tendulkar( Laxman's party ) should take the responsibity who have been utter useless, sorry to say.
carnish Posted September 2, 2012 Author Posted September 2, 2012 India will win ... No matter how much big a target we get ... we will chase it ... We have the expert in chasing targets .. Virat and Mahi. Plus the bigger the target the better it is .. We will have a chance to create a new record.
Ultimate_Game Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Captain should be changed before it becomes 0-8 at home as well.. Fair enough but at the moment there are no clear answers. Gambhir would have been ideal person to take over captaincy but his Test form has fallen so much that he's not even a certainty at this point in the Test team, and Sehwag is not the answer. We need to identify and groom the next captain from one of the youngsters, Kohli & Pujara being the front runners, and groom them for the captaincy. I would continue with Dhoni for the time being with Kohli/Pujara as the vice-captain and in the next 2-3 years the captain can take over with Dhoni retiring from Tests.

If we are going for stop-gap kind of arrangement, the way we had dome with Kumble, we should go for somebody who has better acceptance within team. If Badrinath can be an answer of Laxman, I would say even U T Yadav can be an answer for Dhoni.
Old guy Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Likes of Mukund and Dhawan havent done much but Likes of Rohit "cant play straight Balls" have done much :cantstop: but he has talent :hehe:
Ultimate_Game Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 This. If we cant beat Kiwis at home' date=' responsibility needs to be taken at the top and Dhoni should resign.[/quote'] Yes, blame the captain when the top order can't do jack shyte and the no. 4 batsman can only "enjoy the game" but not score anything. Dhoni is the reason we are still in this game yet coz if he had done what others had done we would have lost already. There's a differnce between holding someone accountable and scape-goating but seriously at the moment Tendulkar fans simply want to blame all and sundry for Tendulkar's failings and blame Dhoni for all ills. E.g., for this Test what could Dhoni have done differently? Were his bowling change not decent, did he drop sitters, did he not contribute with the bat? So why should he be responsible? Just because we have 40 year old has-beens who can't do shyte even against kiwis at home and get clean bowled like an amateur?
jairamesh Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 ahmed will do well...but cant see him coming in team..i hope we find few batting replacements quickly specially the openers is rahane in tht tour ? hope he does well That's my point, selectors cocked up big time for this current NZ series regarding selection of batsmen, that between now and England series there is no opportunity for current out of form players to get match practice or they will not risk any new batsmen from the India A tour. India A batsmen: Mukund, Unmukt Chand, Anustup Majumdar, Mandeep Singh, Ashok Menaria, Ambati Rayudu, Jalaj Saxena I reckon the new selectors are unlikely to plump for any of the above, unless they have super tour, i.e.average 100. If team management knew they would be playing Raina before Rahane, then Rahane should have been in the India A tour to NZ, at least he would be playing some cricket.
Ultimate_Game Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 If Badrinath can be an answer of Laxman, I would say even U T Yadav can be an answer for Dhoni. 2-3 years ...:haha: 0-8 will become 0-20 by then. I have no doubt if a 40 year old has been still keeps on "enjoying the game" it will be 0-20 and sure blame Dhoni for it as he didn't show "leadership skills" for not "leading from the front" Obviously scoring 50s lower down the order to keep us in the game is not leading from the front :giggle:
BeautifulGame Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Nothing will happen even if we lose unfortunately. They will just drop yadav and carry on as if our senior batsmen aren't responsible. We should have leart the incompetence of our selectors by now surely? Honestly all I am hoping is at least Dhoni has the guts to promote Kohli ahead of sachin. Unfortunately I don't think he has it either
