Virender will win this for us. :proud:
Now wake up from ur dream. That 2nd inn vs england was an aberration. Viru as opener is walking wicket in 2nd inn :haha: Gauti used to be the anchor, but that guy is in horrible Test form for quite a while now.

ur too optimistic :haha: i can already see bracewell or southee tearing out batting line up apart maybe we have chance if both kohli and pujara fire

Amarnath may have to leave selection panel soon as he had asked for Dhoni's removal from captaicy which of course Cheeka and company didn't agree to. Amanrnath had demanded why a 0-8 captain is being continued. Amarnath may be axed as selector after differences with Srikkanth http://cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/52258/amarnath-may-be-axed-as-selector-after-differences-with-srikkanth
Read this as well. Amarnath is a selector from the NZ but ihardly spends anytime in following NZ matches and hence he has lost the support of the NZ officials. Selector Mohinder Amarnath's absence ticks off North Zone units

Its not about doing wrong personally (though Dhoni showed no spine batting abroad in each of 7 matches he played except an odd innings here and there when it didnt matter). Ultimately the person at the top has to put his hand up and say he is responsible for what happens under him. MMS is personally one of the most honest politicians ever, but is he not criticized for corruption that happens in his government? And dhoni has not even been performing personally. I gave him the benefit of doubt after the England tour, I was defending Dhoni while blaming the batters and bowlers for the debacle. Zak got injured and none of the other bowlers showed up and the batting was equally spineless. If something was wrong in the England tour, it was Dhoni's personal batting where he never showed any fight. When he came in Nottingham , we had a small lead which could have been built upon and we could score. Poof he goes out first ball and India lose that test along with that too. In Australia there was no such excuse, Bhajji had been dropped, Ishant was fit, Zak lasted the whole series. Yadav bowled well even though not consistently. In the first test we were in a decent position at 214 for 3. Dhoni had to perform there to give us a sizeable lead. We capitulated. Then in the next innings we had the aussies by their necks at 27 for 4. We let that slip too. The first test of the series just set the tone for the remainder. Even if we let that slide, this is a home series against a lowly ranked side. Even in the 90s when we were pisspoor abroad we always won at home. There is no way an Indian captain should continue if he isn't able to win against a poor side at home. Ganguly lost against aussies, That is acceptable because they were the best in the world, not against the 8th or 9th ranked team who just lost to even the windies. Dhoni can manage his ad hoardings or buy motorbike racing teams or attend CSK team meetings where he can bring in Raina and Badri in the side, but if we lose tomorrow, his head should roll. Not that it should be the only change, but it has to be there
Can you enlighten us how Dhoni should be blamed for not beating kiwis at home? Was Dhoni's captaincy poo against kiwis? Did he drop sitters or his wk skills were not good enough? Did he not contribute with the bat? Sadly Dhoni's fault is that he has to bear with the 40 year old has beens in the team who can't do shyte anymore. Yup, drop Dhoni coz even though he performed more than admirably but since likes of Tendulkar are walking wkts let's all blame Dhoni :hysterical:

In that particular innings more blame lies on the regular batsmen than Dhoni if u research the innings. Dhoni is a Wk batsmen who don't have the technique to survive the new ball. So it is the responsibility of regular batters to see of at least the first few overs of new ball.. Yet all of Sachin Dravid laxman get out just before the new ball is due. This isn't an excuse on Dhoni because he is a below ave batsmen abroad. But u cat expect a wk batsmen to survive the new ball when regular batsmen fail to do that. Seriously how many wk batsmen in the world except Prior has the technique to survive new ball ?And even Prior struggled when he was exposed to new ball in SA tour

@OP' date=' over-reaction much? :dontknow:[/quote'] Let me see... hmmm we are struggling to beat a p**s poor kiwi side (without Ryder and Vettori) who was hammered by the WI recently, and that too at home. Yup must be over-reaction coz what's the big deal in losing a Test at home to kiwis after 30 years.

It's funny that you are making this statement when it seems Dhoni is the one who scores all the "cheap" runs :giggle: Apparently Dhoni's average of 38 is all because of cheap runs. Wish our specialist batsmen were able to score cheap runs like Dhoni - at least we wouldn't be strugling to beat kiwis at home :haha:
When we are 300-5 with the hard work already done , he scores runs :giggle:. Else bowler should remember to bowl no balls so his dismissals dont count. Roach got him caught behind twice in Kolkata on no balls when he was less than 20 before he went on to make his century. In other 3 innings where he had to bat, his scores were 0,13,8. IIRC even in the first first test there was a dismissal on no ball or a catch dropped when he hadnt scored much. To add to that he is a walking wicket aboard.

IMO give kohli the captaincy, he is young but has proved that he has a sound head on his shoulders. Its not like he can do worse than 8-0 abroad.
And how can Kohli produce diff results against eng and aus if 3 of our top 4 are walking wkts. And don't u think most people will be calling for Kohli's head if he loses his first 2 series that too at home.

Yes like this Test  and he is a "walking wicket" even though he averages 38 - more than any other Indian wk ever and one of the highest averaging wk. But yeah let's drop him as he was the captain of the team which may not win against NZ at home coz he had 40 year old players who apparently play the game to "enjoy" themselves, not to score runs :haha:

It burns me up that we are even discussing what-if scenarios in a home series against a team like NZ; when this started I was thinking this will be a piece of cake we are just not a good test team at the moment; 0-8 away is horrible but we should atleast be dominating at home against the likes of NZ

What next? MSD pays off bowlers to let him score 'cheap runs'? Seriously is that the best argument you can come up with?

thing im worried abt is,, will his batting suffer under captaincy ? also not few months ago he showed finger to crowd.. yes he is very good batsman and can control is agression for good of himself but can he control others properly ? :hmmm: also i know we won under 19 world cup under him but thts totally diff level and it was a gr8 team

That's my point. We need to take care of our weak links. Drop one of the openers, if not both, and get Rahane in, promote Kohli to no. 4 and get in a new batsman (Rohit or someone else) to replace Tendulkar. If 3 out of the top 4 batsmen are not doing anything no captain in the world can make much of a difference.

Since the World Cup, Sehwag, Gambhir and Tendu have been averaging 30, 24, and 35 respectively. Our non-existent tail (9, 10 and 11) average 8 runs each. Raina despite his recent 50, averages 16 runs. So we have got seven batsmen averaging cumulatively approx. 130 runs. Hence taking 1st innings par score of 400 runs, the remaining four batsmen need to average a whopping 68 each every innings!! This is putting way too much pressure on the likes Pujara and Kohli. Of course at the end of the day these are just stats which can be rendered meaningless with a quick fire Viru double hundred :hehe: But it does highlight the batting fragility of the current line-up, and one of Sehwag, Gambhir, or Tendu need to make way. I would keep all three, and bring Rahane in (for Raina) to open with Gambhir.

Our bowling line up has 3 bowlers with a total experience of 30 tests between them and the batting top 6 has 2 rookies. Most experienced players in the test 11, Sachin, Sehwag and Zaheer have been non factors so far. Plus after the first test, our players seem to be complacent. The attitude seems to be we will outscore the Kiwis somehow. Had the same attitude vs the Windies last year and had to fight really hard for the wins.

I dont understand this, Dhoni's average keeping is justified by his great batting which holds true in ODIS. In tests how can his average batting be justified by saying that he is a keeper, especially when his keeping itself is average, especially to seamers. With spinners he is alright, but abroad we are going to be bowling 3 seamers and if Dhoni doesnt go for difficult catches, how exactly can he stay in the team especially when he is an average batsmen. i dont mind an average batsman + a good keeper. But as a skipper and a number7 bat, he should show responsibility and the will to fight it out even in adverse conditons. He cant raise his hand and say oh the senior batsmen failed so I am not going to perform well. In the 8-0 debacle he never once did show the will to fight it out. Ashwin did, Kohli did, Gambhir did, seniors also did occasionally, but never did Dhoni grind it out in the middle. even PJ batted better than him in England. Prior has elevated his batting and keeping to another level altogether and at one point I rated him below Dhoni. Like I said, not being able to win a home series against New Zealand must be the lowest point in our cricketing history. Its so disgraceful that Dhoni should be the first to take moral irresponsibility. Other changes like SRT retiring should also happen, but the leader should take the responsibility before all of them. If we hand over the captaincy to Kohli today, its not like he can do any worse than 8-0 abroad and drawing against Kiwis at home.
