I take it back. Zhang Jike has been sublime since I made this thread. 90% now to win gold. Seems to have finally gotten over his mental demons. He can take things to a new level with that.

Zhang Jike was awesome. I hardly watch TT but that was some high quality gold medal match there. Enjoyed it. :)

Yeah, its mainly because I played table tennis for Cheshire county at a younger age and followed them. I have a bregrudging respect for the Chinese team but I hate them. I would support any other team apart from them. Its unfair on the competition of the sport. For the team game they have assemble a squad of Ma Long, Ma Lin, Xu Xin, Zhang JiKe, Wang Hao and Wang Qilin. Thats like having a cricket lineup of Hobbs, Hutton, Bradman, Richards, Tendulkar, Gilchrist. Its an outrageous squad.

Offtopic but wanted to know, can anybody guess whether a Chinese person is male or female just by looking at the name of the person. They seem to have very few names for a population of 1.5 billions, male and females combined.

Its the surnames which aren't that many. There are plenty of first names though. And its almost impossible to guess male or female.
