Should Sehwag bat at no.5 or 6 after the retirement of VVS?

After VVS retires Sehwag should bat at no.6 as it'll open a spot for Rahane. This would be my First XI:- Rahane Gambhir Kohli Sachin Sehwag Pujara Dhoni Ashwin Zaheer Umesh Ojha/Ishant(depending on conditions) Reseves:-Mukund(reserve opener),Raina(not my choice but he'll preferred under Dhoni's captaincy)/Who does well in NewZealand tour for India-A between Mandeep/Surya Kumar Yadav,Saha/Naman Ojha(reserve keeper bat), A reserve spinner(Rahul/Chawla),Reserve seamer(Aaron,Shami).

Question is not should .. but will he?? Everyone knows he should but will he make that sacrifice??
It is not on Sehwag's mercy. He's more than willing to bat in the middle order.

Yaa I remember he said that in future if spots are open in the middle-order he wants to bat there & it'll depend on team composition.I think time has come.

That statement was made in 2010 .. he knew he wont have a chance and hence might have said it as a joke ... Moreover it doesnot take much time for players to change their minds .. VVS would have thought of playing the entire home season .. Look now what has happened. Plus there he says he may retire after playing 100 tests .. does it mean he will retire after the 2nd test against England as he has already played 96 tests??

Shewag has always said he prefers to bat at middle order as he is an middle order batsman coverted to opening.Do not worry he will if team asks him to.

Sehwag coming a bit lower could change the dynamics for team India, he could be more dangerous and score more runs, Gambhir should partner with Pujara or Rahane, Murali, Mukund also will balance our line up as Laxman , Dravid wont be there .

Never heard about this ... but yes this article expresses his willingness ... but I still think he will open considering we have too many MO batsmen in the running but not many Openers. Will be glad if he bats at no.5 though

0, 63, 25, 32, 13 , 11, 0, 0, 8, 33, 55, 55, 38, 37, 60, 67, 7, 30, 4, 0, 10, 18, 62 Sehwag's scores from the SA series in 2011 onwards. Add to it the abysmal test form of Gambhir. One thing that definitely needs a fix is a change in the opening pair and VVS' retirement gives a good opportunity to change that.

Both of them have been great for us in the past and are in good shape for 3-4 years at least. By that time we should fix our middle order as we seem to have good players coming up for those positions and wait for a good opener to come up.

In the next 2 years we have a tour of SA, I don't think Sehwag is the right man. We have a great chance to blood in Rahane for the opening slot.
