Raghav_12 Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 This is the first time India has won a Test match without Zaheer picking up a single wicket. Shouldn' there be some qualifiers attached with this statement??

I checked that myself and in fact Zaheer has picked atleast one wicket in each match which he was involved and India won. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/30102.html?class=1;result=1;template=results;type=bowling;view=match

Old guy Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Those guys are the worse home side and the best away side. No matter how many turners we create they will manage to trouble us. ya but we still have durban :icflove:
Crookbond Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 ya but we still have durban :icflove: Nope - no boxing day Test match at Kingsmead, Durban [1,2,3]. Ultimate_Game Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 That shows English are **** against spin That may be so but i will take pitches where pitch was assisting spin from session 1 on day 1. Really? UAE pitches were turners? Were you in an incubator in the 90s? 90s pitchs weren't as bad as the UAE one. IMO I would take those in a jiffy as well where we had likes of Kumble, Raju and Chauhan playing and tormenting opponents.
Ultimate_Game Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 No, more bounce would have better. It was slow turner with no bounce. It wasn't that difficult for batting. NZ batsmen weren't good against spinners and umpires made it worse. I would like a pitch with more bounce for spinner and pacer. Turners almost always help pacers as well due to ball gripping the surface.
Trichromatic Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 U_G : Ye pitch bas dhokha hai. Against any good side with few decent batsmen of spin bowling, this match would have ended in a draw. Dustbowl and rank turner will make it bit even for all teams as any hack would be able to get too much help like Clarke did in Mumbai. Best pitch would be more lively and turn won't be slow.
Crookbond Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 The best pitch in India wrt spin I have seen is Kanpur. Even fast bowlers can get something out from it if you are ready to bowl well as Sreesanth showed against SL. That said, I don't see any Test match being played there for this season or even the next. My sources tell me that it has been transformed into a Ram Lila maidan and will be used for election rallies up next.

Let hacks like Clarke get as much help as they can. I'm sure our spinners will trump them. Clarke is a different case IMO. We've always somehow struggled against him. Remember the Sydney Test where he took 3 wkts in an over? Or in the recent series in Aus where he got Tendulkar when SRT was going strong? He always gets wkts against us.

Yeah, the one where we beat SA in 90s with Srinath running through Saffers :haha: That would be good as well :two_thumbs_up:

The Outsider Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 I am just looking at the Australian innings of the Mumbai 2004 Test match Langer - Bad bounce Ponting - false shot Martyn - Played back to a fall when he should have been forward Hayden - bowled around the legs, another false shot played too inside the line Clarke - Should have been forward and played back Gilchrist - holed out in the deep Hauritz - LBW, probably not out but fault of the pitch Kasprowicz - Ball bounced high, caught off fending - pitch fault McGrath - Edge to first slip, false shot So effectively out of all the wickets only 2 wickets - Langer and Kasprowicz were a pitch issue. It is not to suggest that the pitch was not bad. Are you serious? Wickets on a poor pitch don't necessarily fall to poor deliveries.
Crookbond Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Are you serious? Wickets on a poor pitch don't necessarily fall to poor deliveries. Which was exactly my point - I clearly mentioned that that was not to suggest the pitch was not bad.
Ultimate_Game Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 U_G' date=' Check my edit. [/quote'] That would be even better. We can have Ramlila, politics/elections and cricket all at the same time :haha:
