bihutoli Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Our team's been **** ever since he's come in. We've always been piss poor fielders but after he made his appearance our bowling has gone to the dumps, as has our batting (save Virat who has saved our blushes on many occasions)! Fletcher gtfo!
Ammar1 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 if other coach comes same thing happens and nothing on india performance than u make thread keep changing coach until india dont win
bihutoli Posted October 4, 2012 Author Posted October 4, 2012 Well no problem if you see otherwise. But afaiac India was improving under Gary and Wright. But under Chapell our form immediately went south and we now know how bad a coach he was. Under Fletcher our loss of form has been much more pronounced.
msb1991 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 What do people think Fletcher could have done to make the team perform so bad? How can people think the coach has such a massive effect.
PaceAttack Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 He should have asked Gambhir to stop poking outside offstump.
MCcricket Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Having played cricket at a level and working in corporate environment in multi nationals I can say 100 % coach and captain make a huge difference, see the Kirsten effect on team he coaches, same for John Wright, am loosing faith in him and Dawes also selectors should take the most blame as they decide on the squad and the path ahead.

He should be working with bowlers in NCA in the nets, only then he can make them improve.

Do they have any idea of players outside our squad, does Dhoni know of them , things were better with Ganguly,Wright, Kirsten Chappel's time atleast in terms of finding players and pushing the right players into the team as selectors are idiots, did Dawes go to NCA , DO THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PLAYERS ON THE FRINGE OF SELECTIONS, WOULDN'T IT BE IDEAL TO LOOK AT THESE GUYS EARMARK THEM AND GUIDE THEM SO THEY CAN BE SUCCESSFUL.

Maybe they know but they feel they still not upto it and hence waiting. All that a coach can do is to have the right atmosphere. It's not his prerogative to fetch a player from gali muhalla and teach them cricket. He can work with what he has and that too off-field.

You bring players to him at nets. Why Dawes will himself go to NCA? He is there to be with the team. It is BCCI who will have make sure that he does work with young upcoming bowlers.

I remember during Wright, Ganguly,More,Kirsten, Chappel's term players and especially bowlers were called to join nets and evaluated also all these people were more aware and pushed for selections of certain players who had talent, Fletcher , Dawes seem to be in a comfort zone, agreeing and going along and not taking any initiatives to rectify our current situation, at this point looks like NO ONE CARES. How can Dawes and Fletcher who have seen world class talent believe and agree on the mediocre selections and not do anything or go out of their way look for talent in domestic cricket or NCA.

All the above can't happen unless the coach or peers have created a good and serene ethos around. And the other point is what I mean that it appears. Who knows, they might actually refuse to play with this talent but they are made to play with these talents only. We can only speculate but as I said, a coach can only do so much.
riteshvyas Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Duncan Fletcher is not a good coach for Indian team ..so please go .....Mr. Duncan Fletcher

You also missed brother, parent, and uncle there.

CoverDrive Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 What do people think Fletcher could have done to make the team perform so bad? How can people think the coach has such a massive effect. in all professional sports there is a tremendous pressure on coaches to deliver results. coaches are axed for not producing wins all the time even though they may have a bad squad to work with. even though duncan may not be fully responsible for the results there has to be pressure on him.

I agree, a coach should be a strong person and have courage and conviction, he should team up with captain and along with Dhoni they certainly have the power to effect team selections.Dhoni is a different breed all together, he looks out of place playing test's and these days in T20'S, DOES NOT HAVE ANY IDEA TO GROOM OR IDENTIFY YOUNG PLAYERS, THEY RATHER SIT ON THE BENCH AND HE WILL PLAY PLAYERS FROM HIS CIRCLE ONLY.

And as most people put it - a coach is more like a manager. I have been a manager and I have found that repeating the vision and keeping the team towards the vision/goals helps best. You have to allow people to work freely and follow their instinct but at the same time make sure that people do not fall out of the roadmap.
