Duncan Fletcher needs to go

:giggle: Actually, the role of a coach is very much overrated - at this level I have seen multiple coaches including Kirsten, Donald stress on the mental aspect of the game more than anything. And as most people put it - a coach is more like a manager. I have been a manager and I have found that repeating the vision and keeping the team towards the vision/goals helps best. You have to allow people to work freely and follow their instinct but at the same time make sure that people do not fall out of the roadmap.
All you are saying is well and good if you have a good squad and players are out of form or not doing well as a team, but when a team is in transition and needs directions, initiatives then the coach and captain should be pro active, one should have good players to begin with only then and the captain and coach should have a vision and should take the initiative to fill the void when a team is in transition or squad is weak.

If a team is in transition, the only effect you see is after 1 or 2 years. People here started GO FLETCHER slogans within 6 months!

We have a non existing pace attack, no decent players have been tried and given enough chances in test's, Dravid, VVS, Ganguly, Sachin, Zak have either retired or will very soon, Raina, Yuvraj to an extent, Dhoni have been persisted with despite being mediocre at test level.

What is the coach's fault if the Captain makes the national team look like a private tea party of his best mates like- Suresh Raina Piyush Chawla RP Singh Sudeep Tyagi Murali Vijay R Ashwin Once we can address the biased captaincy aspect, we can maybe look at sacking a coach who led England back to the top in world cricket.

I agree Dhoni needs to go first, only then can good changes start happening, he is too rigid and has too much power also does not play or understand test cricket well also is bad at grooming younger players.

Conspiracy theories galore! RP Singh played just one Test match. Sudeep Tygai finds it difficult to get into the CSK team. Chawla is neither Dhoni's best mate nor does he have any connection. Murali Vijay has not played since SA 2010? R Ashwin is the best spinner around. Raina was dropped from Test matches recently! Yea sure - while we are it please include Tendulkar as well in the list.

Yes. He must go. The whispers have become louder. No captain in world cricket could've continued after getting his team raped 13-0.
From 8-0 to 13-0, just a few numbers here and there.

I neither have the time, nor the interest in breaking it down, piece by piece for your consideration. So how about you use the search bar and suit yourself.

@Dexter Morgan, Just so that you know, I have been kind enough to overlook the 4 ODI games that we lost to Australia and Sri Lanka.

OK - This is for the people who post saying "No captain has every continued after 8-0 etc." can I know how many captains have won with the Top 4 batsman virtually not performing. I would like to see some statistics and people use the search bar. Lets see.

Our dear captain looks so out of place when he tours outside India , especially in test's, he looks like a deer caught in the headlight and bats like one, his field settings are the most defensive and not the right ones to those conditions, why weren't changes made to the test team during those test's, why did he not insist on India getting more time to acclimatize to the conditions there.Virat was lucky to get a chance or even he might be languishing till now see where he is now, why was Rohit not playing,

I doubt he will ever be a good batsman outside SC. His field changes were defensive and not good as well. But, I disagree on two counts - he arrived Australia pretty early but yet failed to acclimatize. However, in hindsight runs on the board was the major problem for us. You can't win Test matches when No.1-No.5 average less than 30s. No captain can - we can harp all about field placements etc. but if you ask me runs on the board was the major reason for our losses.

Oh you wait MCcricket. He'll now say' date=' "what does Dhoni have to do with a thread about Duncan Fletcher"[/quote'] It is all good I enjoyed the discussion, people jave their own perspective, what I have found in life is common sense aint common at all, I measure a persons intelligence based on objectivity and logic not his degrees or experience, noticed the same thing at work , big company , most managers do not even see the picture objectively or clearly to resolve the cause of the issue rather want temporary results.
