comparing Kohli to Cook is again laughable. Cook has played 80 test matches and has been there and done that. He's been the vice-captain for about 4 years now, has toured almost all nations and also has been captained the ODI sides to 3 sub-continental nations. As for 2007 WC, MS was always under the would be leader mode, as per Greg. If you read the article that akash Chopra wrote, that also tells you the same. So, it was not as flash in the pan as it is made out to be. Moreover, I don't know why and what makes people go so gaga over Kohli and that too at such an early stage. He might be the best batsman currently, but test cricket is different stuff man. He came good in Oz but it's still early days for him. To make him the captain would not give him that space to row as a player. And lastly,India is not SA where the system is in order and you just have to lead a side with very good fast bowlers and full of professionalism. If MSD, as is being said here, can't drop a non-performing Viru, then can a Kohli can? I am asking this as this is what is made out here but I in my mind am sure that it's not always the captain's call when it comes to squad. Brining in smith for every shout of making Kohli the captain makes no sense. The 2 countries are totally different with totally different systems.

That middle part is what is metted out to most players in India. Most of the players here crave and get a farewell series. And that Sehwag thing was for your assertion that Sehwag is an impact player.

I am not ignoring Smith of 2003 and I have stated my reasons for why that comparision is not apt. High or low expectations, I would be apprhensive of having Kohli at the helm in a tour as important as the SAn one is.

In ODIs, Sehwag has not been good this year over the few ODIs he has played but from 2008-2011 - four consecutive years - he has averaged 40+ with a strike rate of 100+ every year. That's a phenomenal record.

It started of with you saying that leaving Sehwag out was a tactical blunder as he's an impact player. Then when I say that he has been in poor form for a very long time, then the first premise of poor captaincy is thrown out of the window and Gambhir is brought in. Then you distinguish ODIs and T20s' forms. How many T20 Intenationals we play in an year anyway? And to select a T20 team, ODI performance would be the barometer.

Moreover, Lord was comparing Sehwag to Gambhir, who has been our best ODI bat for the best part of last year.
