coffee_rules Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 If you have no other complications that is. The recommended consumption by doctors is 1 peg, 1 glass of red-wine or 250 ml of beer. Alcohol is especially bad if you have diabetes, it slows down metabolism and causes the sugar levels to go up. People with diabetes should cut down alcohol consumption.
Iconoclast Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Drank hard in college/med school ... now down to 3-4 drinks once maybe twice a week.

akshayxyz Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Not a daily drinker, but when I drink: - if its draught beer - at least 3 litres...normal beer - 2-2.5 litres...... (or more.. if I have longer drinking session ) - if its hard liquor (usually whisky) - about half bottle (350-400 ml). spread over about 3-4 hours at leasst, with lots of fluid(water/soda).
Desi Cartman Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Shake only diet is an epic fail.Im drowsy so im gonna eat leftover rice and chicken wings
akshayxyz Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 ^ that is what happens with almost all of the 'magic' diets.. and further, you end up learning a bad experience (negative reward) - in return of trying to be a bit disciplined. Best is always make incremental changes, diets work best with good physical activity and vice-versa.
akshayxyz Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 BTW - on GM diets.. from what I understand of such short term weight loss diets - the most of the weight loss has to be due to water weight loss ( and may be a bit of cleaner intestines!).. The actual weight, which most people want to lose.. i.e. the ugly fat ( except on girly bewbs)...can not be lost so fast w/o tonnes of physical exercise... if you want to know why--- just read about how fat is metabolized.

Disagree... I had embarked on a diet only routine and lost 30 kgs in a matter of 4 months, agreed it is hard to sustain but then I was able to reduce my tummy from 43 inch to 34-35 inch. Overall I was able to create a reasonably good body structure. If body is short of energy, it has to burn fat, and when you are dieting, it pulls out fat from all possible places and not specific areas. However agree to ur point that crash diets generally results in weight loss from water loss.. but sustained dieting for 3-4 months can achieve good results. Ask christian Bale.

And what point are you contesting? I was talking about quality of the weight loss on GM Diet - the one week long diet people have mentioned earlier.. I have myself done some significant transformations within 6-12 weeks. (6 kg (pure fat) loss in 6 weeks, immediately followed by 18 kg gain in ~11-12 weeks)....this is (almost) as christian-bale-esque as it gets for someone with regular day job.

King Khan Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 How did u do it? I quit smoking cold turkey, but alcohol addiction is hard to quit. esp when you get addicted to hard liquor. Alcohol consumption in moderation is not bad, I am told, but the hard part you are the moderator, you go lenient sometimes. The best way probably is to hit the gym, and eat regularly. I had a pretty bad addiction to it actually. It's like Beer, Rum, Vodka, Whiskey, Wine anything pushed in front of me I wouldn't stop gulping it until I crush down into unconsciousness. It was bit personally depressingly unbalanced struggling period for me back then also. Then a simple typhoid fever severely got into me, with my long practiced large liver caused unbearable abdominal pain all that put me into bed for about 5-6months. It was quite a painful time anyone can forget once it happened and later I let myself into more with family & some religious activities made it possible so far to completely ignore it. I wont deny that I didn't go into lenient sometimes, but it stays for short period of time only. I don't wanna put my willpower in challenge regarding liquor again. Yet in present days I try calculate my every next step beforehand not to crossing into any chance of inviting of liquor. This eventually helped me to get rid of some other habits like casino betting, night club, rogue parties etc. as I took an extra weekend security job for crowd control in a nightclub that forced me not to drink on job and that made me occupied at weekends as well. IMHO having committed relation & good sexual life helps you not to get into alcohol. After several pauses I couldn't stop smoking yet:cantstop:. Maybe one day God will bless me enough willpower to get rid of it as well.

Thats not that great. 18 kgs is thhough... but a good diet of samosas can do it.

Thats not that great. 18 kgs is thhough... but a good diet of samosas can do it. 6 in 6 - good or great, depends on where you are starting at.. .e.g. 96-to-90 is easy.. 72 to 65 is not that, also considering the 'purity' of the loss...I measured, there was absolutely no muscle loss (within 1-2% of measurement error)...I have ignored many other parameters (gender, height, etc etc). Same goes with increasing 18 kgs - depends on quality of gain... Anyway, point was not that... - you did not reply, what you were contesting against?

Dude its about % and fat loss etc in wt loss, not simply the no. of kgs lost a really fat person losing 18kgs might be the same as a much leaner person losing only 6 kgs
