I was reading an interview with Ian Butler on Cricinfo and one passage made me want to make a thread where we share verbal exchanges from matches as narrated by cricketers: We were playing West Indies in 2002 and I was bowling the quickest I'd ever done. I sent down a bouncer to Chris Gayle and it beat him for pace. I bowled another one and he got halfway through a hook shot before ducking out of it. I told him what I thought and he turned round, smiled and said: "Bro, bowl there again and see what happens." So I did - he was expecting it, and the ball's still in orbit now. Sometimes, verbal sledging is simply not enough. Viv Richards hit Merv Hughes for four consecutive boundaries in one single over. Merv’s response was to stop halfway down the pitch, fart loudly, and say to Viv: “let’s see you hit that to the boundary!”

Fred Trueman bowling. The batsman edges and the ball goes to first slip, and right between Raman Subba Row’s legs. Fred doesn’t say a word. At the end of the over, Row ambles past Trueman and apologises sheepishly. “I should’ve kept my legs together, Fred”. The reply is classic Trueman, “Not you, son. Your mother should’ve!”
