Ranvir Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 This is the same with Punjabis. Punjabis on the Indian side are more proud of their culture especially the Sikhs. In the Indian state of Punjab the official language is Punjabi whereas in Pakistan Punjab it is Urdu. The Pakistanis do not even teach their kids Punjabi in schools, they are ashamed of it and will take on a language that is not their own. They do not have much of a Punjabi culture anymore. There's nothing wrong with learning Hindi or urdu but you should always learn your mother tongue as well and not be ashamed of it. Bangladeshis will always be proud of their Bengali culture because that is the reason why they were discriminated by the Pakistanis and why they got independence.

Desi Cartman Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 its not too smart to compare valuing culture VS protecting millions of people. Culture is not absolute and its ever changing, its how civilizations change and no one can stop it but to ban religion, language etc is another thing. BTW I think people give way too much attention to culture etc,people must move with times.
