Which Test nation has the most effective spinners?

I think a big factor is whether we are talking about spinners bowling with DRS or without one. Paki spinners have the advantage of bowling with DRS and get plenty of wkts due to presence of DRS whereas Indian spinners have to fight the batsmen, umpires and BCCI (for lack of DRS) in general. I assure you get Ashwin and Ojha DRS and they will be running through the sides as well since the umpires will not be as cautious in giving LBWs and batsmen won't be safe when they take a half decent stride forward.

Against sides like Eng, Aus and SA they do. Only against teams like SL or B'desh which is a low revenue earner they don't.

DRS' only impact is not just the odd overturned decision to get a LBW or a bat-pad but the fact that batsmen know they won't be safe by just playing on front foot like Cook is doing now. Anybody remember Jimmy Padams? batsmen following their philosophy can go on batting without DRS but with DRS they will be found out. They will need to reassess their batting plan and will be forced to change their style a bit. Unfortunately not happening as BCCI has an ego bigger than Samit Patel's @$$.

But Swann & Panesar didn't have DRS too but were definitely more threatening against our more "accomplished" players of spin. Panesar's every ball looked threatening as opposed to Ojha. Panesar was getting turn even when the ball was relatively new too.

Agree, with umpires being less cautious with DRS involved and if we had DRS Cook and Pietersen would been out before end of day today. But Swann & Panesar didn't have DRS too but were definitely more threatening against our more "accomplished" players of spin. Panesar's every ball looked threatening as opposed to Ojha. Panesar was getting turn even when the ball was relatively new too.

Generally the straighter ones or the balls that don't spin that much are more dangerous on a turning track. Let's wait for the match to finish before passing judgement. to me the Ashwin-Ojha combo is pretty good and it's up to BCCI to ensure they get all the help they deserve (i.e. DRS) at home.
