Currently there is daylight between Pakistan's and England's spinners compared to the rest at Test level. Their seems to be a fundamental lack of ability rip the ball by India spinners, and get that prodigious turn compared to the likes of Ajmal, Swann, Panesar, and Bishoo whatever the conditions. Even in the Ahmadabad Test, Swann got more turn than Ashwin and Ojha. I would say currently the effectiveness of India's spinners is below Pakistan, England, Sri Lanka, and maybe on par with West Indies. There are some serious problems if Dhoni and Selectors have to overly rely on crumbling pitches for our spinners to be successful. Bottom-line: Indian spinners just don't turn the ball enough.

England never bowl with spin. Anderson/Broad/Finn usually bundle out teams over the past 2-3 years so efficiently that Swann is sparingly used. When we do use spin as a main resource, (Sri Lanka, India, UAE) we're deadly at it.
