What's with Flower and begging to opposition?

looks like whenever anything goes against England, Flower goes to the refs, opposition dressing room and starts to beg for his team/player to be given a break. Happened in England when he begged for Bell to be reinstated and has happened in this Test as well when he went begging on Bairstow's behalf. Excerpt from the article...

According to England sources, their director of cricket, Andy Flower, approached the match referee, Roshan Mahanama, to ask for the decision to be reversed. Mahanama informed him that as Bairstow had left the field of play, the decision could only be withdrawn if India's captain, MS Dhoni, withdrew his appeal on the umpires' request. Dhoni, with the support of his coach, Duncan Fletcher, chose not to do so.

True. As the saying goes "if you allow someone to sit on your shoulder pretty soon he will start ph**king your ear". And coming from a team which appeals for grounded ball as a catch (Trott)
He cares and is taking his job seriously unlike our Motu!
I have yet to see what value add he has brought to the team, other than 300 pounds of lard.

Ridiculous stuff from Flower. Is he going to do this after the umpires give any decision he doesnt agree with ? If India did this, everyone would be whining about it.

If India did this' date=' everyone would be whining about it.[/quote'] If India did this we would be called cry-babies, BCCI exerting its influence, BCCI bullying umpires/refs/ICC and India ignoring the spirit of cricket.

Just look at the title: "director of cricket", what director, just call him head-coach! And he knows he has the backing of ECB who is one of the strongest cricket boards alongside CA and BCCI. Had he been coach of zimbabwe he would have thought twice before approaching match ref.

I remember people calling Dhoni 'gutless' because he allowed Ian Bell to continue. Will the same people stand up and call Dhoni an aggressive captain now because he refused to accept Flower's request? It works both ways - lets see your guts.
