Let him play this Ranji season and see his progress and wait for Australia to come here, maybe candidate by then, but not right now, has not played enough FC matches yet.

Want to kill his career before it starts off? Want to thrust him into battle before having enough experience or the requisite number of tricks in his armoury? What's the hurry exactly?

He is coming back after an injury. Needs to bowl more and be ready for the test series vs Australia early next year. I wonder why Ishant is being denied that opportunity to bowl more in FC cricket. Is not going to help him at all.

ATM he's lot better than Unlucky & Danda' date='he's in terrific form.[/quote'] At the moment, Shukla is outbowling him comfortably and Shami is even struggling to get Abhishek Nayar out.

Even Steyn bowled s**t in the 1st test, then he came back strongly.

The first thing to learn on priority basis is how to get Abhishek Nayar out (since I don't see him getting Jaffar's wicket before he scores a 100).

Looks like Shami is bowling well, 13 overs, 22 runs, but does not have a wicket yet. It happens on some days, even good spells dont bring you wicket that is where is test for a cricketer to stay patient.

Shukla would have gotten Jaffer's wicket too had he not been dropped in the second slip. Shami needs a bit of time, needs to figure out how to get success on flat tracks, how to get batsmen out who absolutely refuse to give an inch. To be honest, as much as I would like to see Shami being successful, I don't recall a single decent batting side against whom Shami has had a great match. He needs a lot more exposure to groom himself and it's a gradual process.

that is what I said above. That good batting line up was South Zone, last year in Duleep Trophy. He had outbowled every bowler in that match.

Shami got 73/4 and 50/4 in that match on a favourable strip. Central Zone is an okay batting line up, can't really be called 'good'.

Yes, that match. He could easily have 13-14 wickets in the match because they also dropped 6-7 catches in the slips and by the keeper on his bowling. That was a friendly track but not much CZ bowlers likes pf Pankaj, Rituraj, and B Kumar looked average on the same pitch and he made the ball talk in both the innings. I saw that match live and there was not a single bowler who was close to him not even Dinda who too had 8 wickets. He is not a finished article though I agree about it and needs to play more FC matches. Regarding bowling on flat tracks, I think there are not many bowlers who can bowl out teams on flat tracks. Everyone needs a bit of help of some sort, if not conventional swing or seam then reverse swing. He at least can bowl well in conditions that help him and that is what we need for SA tour next year because most our bowlers dont even ball well in seaming conditions likes of Ishant.

So, to sum up, everyone agrees that: a) Shami Ahmed has potential b) Still not a finished article - and has to go a few miles c) Needs to get Abhishek Nayar out ASAP d) Thread :fail:  Case closed

He is not that good against left handers pretty much like Steyn is not.:--D

If a s**t bowler like Unadkat can play a test for India then why not Shami? Tell me isn't he better than Ishant & Dinda?

(The case continues as more truths emerge) So, he's got Steyn's bad qualities but not the good ones? :hmmm:
