that does not mean they cannot be critical. Both Gavaskar and Shastri have powerful backers within the Mumbai cricket association. The BCCI is a highly political heterogeneous organisation. So long as you have the backing of a kingpin you can say as you please.

define the BCCI, what does the BCCI mean to you? You already have the MCA president coming out and having the swipe at Srini. Shukla is on his way out apparently from the IPL. Its a case of civil war within the BCCI and such a scenario Gavaskar or Shastri cannot stick to a single BCCI line as there is no line to stick to.

Back the power center who is closest to them and is most likely to continue their pay packet. I don't fault Gavaskar or Shastri - they are doing what BCCI pays them for. It's just that their opinion has to be taken with a pinch of salt given that it is hardly unbiased.

Also like to point out that Gavaskar has been writing for the newspaper Loksatta a daily marathi publication for a 3-4 years now. His articles appear there once in a while where he has a guest column. He has always been critical on certain issue about the BCCI. Especially the state of pitches and format of ranji cricket and state of ranji cricket in general (ie poor coaching pitches poor state of travel etc) Maybe Gavaskar prefers to do his critic in a thoughtful piece via the newspapers? Just a thought to keep in mind.

Not clear to you and me perhaps. I'm sure Sunny and Shastri knows where the moolah is coming from. The basic point is that an organization (BCCI) is paying the duo for good PR. From that point on, how can any of their opinions be deemed unbiased?

The bcci is paying them for commentary on the game. Thats why they probably toe the line in that media format. I have read so many articles where Sunny in particular is critical of the BCCI in the newspapers. Even the newspapers do pay him significant money for his services. well the BCCI produce their own content for home matches. Hence they do pay Gavaskar for his commentary. I believe that Sunny in particular has a certain sympathy for the BCCI. That is all cause i have read plenty of articles where he has disagreed with the BCCI stance taken over the years. On the Dhoni issue that just shows Sunny is not biased. Knee jerk reactionary maybe as he called for Kohli after the 2-1 loss to england and now went to the other extreme of 2019 with dhoni in the aftermath of 4-0 win v Aus.

U do know he is also paid by Media.Gavaskar and Shastri Have always supported the BCCI After they left ESPN In 2008 .Even Srini Says he will sack the CSK if there is wrongdoing.So selective examples cannot stand.He Is unable to give his views on Bcci ,Which is Sad as he was a great cricketer .
