cowboysfan Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Most of them would do better than strike rate of 113. who are these maharathis?

rahulrulezz Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 who are these maharathis? Naman Ojha is a very under-rated LOI cricketer
Tridibans_16 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 no argument there but we dont have other WKs who could whack it knocking on the doors. Another thing is we all know how defensive captain he is. Alsways looking to contain the opposition. Not going to work when your batsmen are failing consistently. Even today, we should have bowled our frontline bowlers and not part timers when they were 30-3 in 7 overs. Atleast, we could have made them reeling at 50/5 or something after 12 overs. Even if part timers came on, the asking rate would have been more than 10.
CG Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 I know it may sound a little silly but Dhoni doesnt seem to have the luck factor anymore. That ended with World Cup. Till then, everything he touched turned gold. The decisions to bring in Joginder Sharma to bowl the last over in T20 World Cup, promoting himself before Yuvraj, Raina in 2011 World Cup final and several other gambles in tests and ODIs and even in IPL worked like a charm. Not anymore. I used to be amazed at how he used to defend small totals in T20s but now when India bats first, I feel match is already lost. That may have to do with lack of options in death bowling and lack of quality spinners but still, that magic is not happening clearly. Those were decisons which had some sense. 1.Bhajji was hammered by misbah and bahji generally is hammered by pakis. so he had to take a punt on sharma. 2.Dhoni is a great player of spin bowling particularly muruli so he took a good decison.he had done it many times in past . You make your own luck.

You make your own luck. Also till WC2011, we had many thingfs going our way: 1) Test team was still top calss. Dravid/ Lax/ Tendu all were in form. Heck, even Gambhir was getting runs in tests. Also, till 2010 Kumble was there in the bowling line-up. Ishant was quite ok. 2) Yuvi/ Raina/ Dhoni himself were in the form of their lives in LOI. Kumars and Pathans were getting wickets/ runs when needed. Tendulkar was in good form (200 against SA, century in WC), etc. As bad as our bowling was, we were still getting runs on the board. 3) Last but not the least, team was motivated and Dhoni's defensive captaincy was hidden by the individual performances. 4) Now that seniords are gone and the youngsters have lost their purple patch, all the in-efficiencies in his captaincy are exposed big time. He is too defensive, timid and instinctive captain. Sometimes you need BRAIN and NOT INSTINCTS.
Sid Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Dhoni doesnt even deserves a place in the side at the position and the way he bats in this format.
