vayuu1 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 That is why I believe with the money bcci has, they also need to use scientific and technological aspect as well,i mean like England and Australia do,not just with international team but also with a teams, domestic circuit and under 19 level
rkt.india Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Himanshu Rakhija is Ian Pont's prodigy and he is younger and faster than Mohit Sharma. He can be next genuine pacer we are looking for after Yadav and Aaron. He is already selected by BCCI In nationwide trials.
vivek_singh3187 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 We may produce the 140k pacers, but how we'll take care of them & save them from injuries....right now Aaron looks like he's going Shane Bond's way....Umesh Yadav our best hope is injured when he's required most....except these two we don't have any 140-150k range bowler...rest all are 130-140k range or lower than that.

That's enough if they can move the ball and have control. Its useless to bowl 140+ if you cant have control and cant move the ball.
bharat297 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 The problem is that teams like Australia and South Africa have bowlers that bowl 140+ and move the ball ... with control!
rkt.india Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 The problem is that teams like Australia and South Africa have bowlers that bowl 140+ and move the ball ... with control! tell me how many bowlers move the ball at 140+.
vivek_singh3187 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 The problem is that teams like Australia and South Africa have bowlers that bowl 140+ and move the ball ... with control! Agree, that's why we require more 140+ pacers with movement & control so that our batters can practice with them....so that they can play pacers from SA,AUS with confidence.
vivek_singh3187 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 tell me how many bowlers move the ball at 140+. Starc, Morkel, Steyn, Finn..
rkt.india Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Starc' date=' Morkel, Steyn, Finn..[/quote'] not really. Most of them does not bowl 140 when ball moves. The more your speed is the less movement you will get.
bharat297 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Starc' date=' Morkel, Steyn, Finn..[/quote'] Pattinson, Anderson, Amir (when he was playing), Siddle too
cricketman Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 almost every single Australian fast bowler bowls over 140 and gets movement. Even guys like James Hopes touched 140 consistently. They have an endless supply of good fast bowlers. They have the luxury of employing a rotation policy now so all their first choice bowlers get rest and the reserve bowlers get exposure and end up with the same results. This is what makes Australia so consistently good. India used to be that way with batsman and spinners. now, we dont seem to have enough quality players to make a decent starting lineup.
bharat297 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 not really. Most of them does not bowl 140 when ball moves. The more your speed is the less movement you will get. That's completely not true. I'm sorry ... that's an absolute myth! Provided your wrist position is correct and your release is right, you'll swing the ball.
rkt.india Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 That's completely not true. I'm sorry ... that's an absolute myth! Provided your wrist position is correct and your release is right, you'll swing the ball. It is not a myth. This is the reason why Styen slows his speeds when he gets swing. Tyring to get swing at high pace may also result in lack of control. Rather bowlers can get seam movement at high pace if they hit seam.

To bowl fast you need a quick arm action and momentum into your delivery stride. This doesn't change if you try to get swing. You just need a good wrist position and release.
ExpressPace Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Even if india finds a couple of good pacers, they will burn out fast because of 3 month long IPL each year. I think BCCI should put a quota on how many IPL games each player can play per season. This way the teams will use them wisely and the local boys on the bench will get exposer as well. Its a win win situation for both the player and BCCI.

IPL or T20 is the easiest form of cricket in terms of physical effort for a pacer. 4 overs per match that too with gaps. A fast bowler's life cannot get easier than that. You know Ishant Sharma bowled as many overs in 50 days IPL as he bowled in a 5 days Lords test so tell me which is more physically demanding for a fast bowler?

How many overs do they have to feild each game? And how many games are being played in IPL? Plus non stop traveling from one state to another. All of this isnt gona take a tool on their body? On top of IPL, they usually have jam pack FTP. Moreover, bowling on dead flat wicket where they have to put in extra effort to be economical. What world do you live in? Just look at the list of injured bowlers.
Cricket Tragic Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 You're not taking into account the physical effort in the after match parties.
ExpressPace Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 You're not taking into account the physical effort in the after match parties. Oh my bad :giggle:

It's not just the bowling part, it's preparing for the matches, continuous travel (mostly traveling/flying every other day), non-stop parties/events. Bowlers hardly get time to recover mentally or physically as they are on the move non-stop for nearly 2 months. You can do that for a 3-5 match series but not for an 18 game league in 2 months and expect to be ready for series immediately after the IPL is over. IPL can only work if there is proper down-time once IPL is over and preferably there should be a gap of 3 weeks before IPL starts and nearly a month once IPL is over so players can recover.
