I reckon its more to do with being stuck in the times since the rural-urban divide kept increasing with the cities trying to march forward and many villages not seeing major progress. I had touched upon this in a different thread. A large population of India is stuck far behind on development curve. Technology, education, infrastructure you name it. Way behind rest of the country, let alone the world. And in this midst suddenly this forgotten segment has access to cellphone and internet. Now some folks think Technology is a great equalizer. I tend to think in a multi layered country like India it is not as cut and dry. We are still in the churning process and outcomes of all kinds are quite expected.

It is not written in the Bible or Koran or Gita that men/women should not interact. Heck even if it is written there is no reason why men/women should not interact. Hormone driven young kids may want to interact each other freely but in villages women are seen as an asset for a family and they don't want their underage kids eloping by using the mobile phones. I don't think this is wrong at all.

I want existing laws to be implemented by the book - period. Now, I don't care what it takes for the people in charge to do so - I do not. I don't care if people are not co-operating, force them to. If not, what's the point at all? We are back at square one. I have hardly commented on the Delhi Gangrape issue except at times when Gandhi/Lincoln ideologies were drawn for brainwashing or Dumbbells were used to stop rapes.
