I'd say England. They've got the complete package: * In form opener (Cook) * Technically solid middle order batsmen capable of scoring big (Trott, Pietersen, Bell) * Attacking wicket-keeper batsman (Prior) * All-rounder (Broad) * Good spinners (Swann and Panesar) * Good pacemen (Anderson, Finn) South Africa have most of those except the spinner.

other then spinners south africa lead everywhere imo broad was awful recently vs us and also vs saffers philander did better job as all rounder:giggle: pacers south africa win and they proved tht in england batting again england have weak spots if cook fails bell is ordinary vs good bowling ,trott has been bad vs big teams andin sub continent kp is good now compare it to saffrs whose top 6 are most solid in world keeping if abdv continous then south africa but i will give this one to england

But the question was not what the best lineup in Tests is, it was what is the most balanced/settled line-up. South Africa are a better side because their strong areas are stronger than England but I think South Africa's lineup is not quite settled at the moment because they are still searching for a quality spinner and I think De Villiers may need to give up the keeping soon (especially if Kallis will retire) because they'll need him to be the No.4 batsman imo.

with strauss gone englands opening is not setlled with barbie out of form and potato head half the time not getting wickets in matches they dont even know who there 3rd seamer is... then in lower order root just debuted and he is actually opener..sould hardly call it settled as samit patel, morgan, bopara keeps on shuffling

It's a more balanced attack than South Africa. A balanced attack is an attack capable of playing in different conditions. South Africa were probably a bit lucky to escape against Australia. Outside of bowler-friendly conditions they may not have the attack to take 20 wickets.

Pakistan is no where near a good test side. They lost a series to SL back in June. Even NZ had destryoed SL :hysterical:
I never said they are good. They are a much settled side. They are no way a bad Test side either.
