the split of Andhra Pradesh is a timely reminder to even the BJP. While it is a good idea to create smaller states (something i support) you need to be politically savy so as to not feck yourself in the process. If people dont care then by all means go for it. But if there is resistance back away. The last time the BJP were in power they created Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgrah. They have been a political force (either leader of opposition or in government in a major way) in all three states. So creating new states has not hurt them at all.
That is exactly what I had said earlier too. It is much much easier to split Hindi speaking states because they don't tend to have any regional sentiment. They could even split UP further and would probably not meet much resistance. It is much harder to split states with strong regional sentiments and a distinct regional language. That is why it is going to be very very hard if they ever decide to split TN, Karnataka, Maharashtra, etc.

I'm quite sure that UP will be divided into 3-4 states....obviously after the 2017 elections. There is also the demand for Vidharbha - whats the status on that now with BJP-SS in power?

not going to happen IMO The BJP are not confident yet to winning all regions of maharashtra. They have got a CM from Viderbha so as of now they dont need to make any move. The way i see it maharashtra too needs to be split into 3-4 states. I would back it personally. Some regions are just ignored. I dont think the NCP or Congress care anyways. They will go along with whatever. SS too secretly wont mind Viderbha going. They have never done well in that region. But they have an image to keep.

TRS made such a fool of Congis.Cong thought that to contain Jagan they will create Telengana and TRS will merge with them and they will win. Result: 1.They lost Andhra as Jagan went separate and people hate Congress for creating telengana. 2.TRS went alone in Telengana and Congress got babaji ka thullu. I still want to know whose gave Congress the idea to do all this?
Most probably Diggy raja gave the idea... He was in charge of AP... :giggle:

he still is right? Lol Digvijay singh is the gift that keeps on giving. One of the main reasons why the BJP are in a strong position in MP is because Diggy was terrible at governance. This guy should have been sidelined permanently. Instead he somehow managed to make a career for himself in national politics clinging onto Rahul Gandhi. Mark my words this guy will cause all sorts of problems for Scindia in MP. Politically the Congress should pension him off.

yeah Andhra Pradesh (united) was a self inflicted wound. They are in tatters even in Telangana. Their leaders are jumping to the TRS or the BJP. You could say Andhra Pradesh was the strongest of all major Congress states. 2004-2014 Echos the collapse in the Congress. This is what i mean, its not just the BJP. Even regional parties are starting to upset the congress. There is a basic weakness in the congress which can be exploited by most other major regional parties. The way i see it if Congress fail to retain Karnataka and fail to retake Punjab and Rajasthan then they are in major major trouble. That is my metric to gauge just how far they have fallen.
AP bifurcation ended up being a political suicide for Congress.

1,Dont think Diggy was the only one behind the idea.Madamjee and RG seems to have also floated it with the vision of getting power in Telangana and fight it out in AP. Leaders in congress must realise that RG isnt going to lead them anywhere and need to find a leader ASAP if they want to survive.

It's hard to see how Congress is coming to power soon. Even till now, some of their senior leaders are blaming RSS, Mosad for their defeats. Till they do some introspection, and make some real changes in leadership, it all seems gloomy for the party.

44 was an epic embarrassment Now exit polls pointing to only 1, only 1 seat in delhi elections How long Rahul baba gng to lead:hysterical:
:headshake: you still don't understand, do you? They win - its Rahul Baba's victory. They lose - its org and local leader's fault. p.s. If BJP loses in Delhi then you will see the same line being said by BJP leaders about Modi.

BJP loss on Delhi is purely on Advanis head,he skipped campaign was the biggest point in BJP losing badly.

Its hard to see Congress coming back to power on their own. They have plummeted to the depths. They will need to make a lot of alliances across the board in many states.

This year might be a little different. BJP is unlikely to continue winning on the basis of Modi power alone. Anyway, other than Bihar, I dont think we have any major state going for election this year. That will give some time for Congress to introspect and change. But change has to come from the top..... and I mean the topmost leaders.

Best bet for the congress is that BJP is sub 200 and the Congres manage to get 140-150 seats and the secular parties join hands to keep the BJP out. AKA a repeat of 2004. Take Andhra Pradesh (the new one) and Jharkhand. The Congress organisation is being eroded from a grassroot level. You dont come back from that in just one election cycle. Its a bit like the BJP in Wb. Its a long term job. Will pay dividends in the future. But not in 2019

#1. People want to see better traffic conditions, roads, police etc. The GDP growth is always important but people dont wake up and feel happy by looking at the GDP growth, they want to see visible changes. #2. Baba has no idea about how to sell what congress did. He is utterly useless and Sonia looks tired and not so interested anymore. #3. Chidambram doesnt mention that no new leaders are allowed to complete against "high command" #4. He ignored the scams

Dude splitting states is not as easy as just drawing a line and marking a new territory.
Nobody said it was. However from a governance POV smaller is better. How its done is another issue.
Andhra and Telangana gov'ts are both bankrupt. They are begging Modi to give Special State status so they can get more funding.
Maybe because CBN and Rao both promised big farmer waivers pre elections http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-tdp-chief-chandrababu-naidu-promises-farm-loan-waiver-in-telangana-seemandhra-1974070
Modi came to Andhra and promised 1,000 crores to Vizag region and ended up giving only 400 crores. These are HUGELY populated states and more importantly filled with government freebies that are not sustainable. Now, Andhra region has no capital and needs thousands of crores for new constructions - money they don't have and EVEN after alliance with BJP - Modi is unable to get the cash to give. The two states are literally struggling right now and are teetering towards bankruptcy at any moment and falling on Central gov't feet for more cash + loans. I doubt Modi gov't will grant any new states after the AP fiasco.
Firstly Modi did not grant Telagana state. It was the congress has made it. 400 crores is also pretty big amount. That 1000 crore is for cyclone Hudud http://www.deccanchronicle.com/141014/nation-current-affairs/article/cyclone-hudhud-pm-modi-arrives-vizag-damage-andhra-estimated Provide me with a link whereby Modi told people he would pour 1000 crore into the vizag region. (not that i doubt you) About being hugely populated. New Andhra Pradesh has a population less than Guj and new Telagana has a population similar to Jharkhand. I would like to know, how exactly are these states bust? To the laymen it appears farmer subsidies in both newly created states are the problem. Please enlighten me.

Look how low Congis can go to secure an RS seat and in the name of appeasement. Sickening.

In Kashmir, 5 Congressmen Admitted 'Mistake' in Afzal Guru's Hanging. Here's Why. SRINAGAR: The way the Congress-led UPA government handled the hanging the execution of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru was a mistake, five Congress lawmakers have admitted in a statement. The admission, apparently, was necessary to get the last vote to secure a Rajya Sabha seat for senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is the Leader of Opposition in the Upper House of Parliament. The Independent lawmaker who arm-twisted the Congress into making such a statement for his vote was Engineer Rashid. Flush with victory, Mr Rashid read out the statement in the State Assembly before casting his vote for Mr Azad. "The demand for clemency for Guru was justified and his mortal remains should be returned to his family," said the statement, a copy of which is with NDTV. "The decision to not allow his family members to meet him one last time was also a mistake," it said. "Let this message go to people that the Congress, which hanged Afzal, is admitting today that they have committed injustice," said Mr Rashid. The People's Democratic Party, which had described Guru's execution as the Congress' biggest 'communal mistake', slammed the U-turn by the party. "It's the worst kind of opportunism, just for one seat, they could do this," said Naeem Akhtar, chief spokesman of the PDP. "They have stated a fact, but they never said it earlier. They did it only at 2:30 pm on Saturday, when a legislator threatened to not vote for them." Guru, a convict in the 2003 Parliament attack case, was hanged at Delhi's Tihar Jail on February 9, 2013. Fearing a backlash in the state, the UPA government had kept the news secret till it was over. Guru's body was reportedly buried within the jail premises. In face of the massive criticism, Vikar Rasool, one of the five Congress legislators, said the "party completely agreed" with the sentiments expressed in the statement. "Afzal's hanging was a legal issue, but his body should have been returned (to his family) and that was a better way to handle it. We also support the resolution brought by Rashid Sahab in this regard," said Mr Rasool.
