First time i heard his name was when india u19 team toured england and got a double centuary....a real captains innings......after that everythibg went wrong for him.....issues with his state board....ICL...now playing for borada but still not able to stitch big innings which are good enought for a national call up........cant blame selectors for not picking him for national assignments.....he seems to be a natural player......looks like he has lot of time when playing pacers.....can handle short bqll pretty well......esp plays well when team in trouble.....which is evident from NZ A tour....and most of his innings for borada......but should sort out his mind and play some really big inngs in ranji. .......What do u guyz think.......with his age he still have a chance to wear blue jersy?

He is an average player who averages in early 30s in List A cricket and fails to play long innings. Players like Pujara, Kedar Jadhav and Jaggi should be given a chance ahead of him based on their performances in domestic cricket.

he is not a verage player people just look at average and give opinion he has shown he is a gr8 finisher..very suited to odis and was our best batsman in nz a tour in all formats

Feel bad for him. Usually gets a good fighting 50s on tough tracks and can't cash on flat tracks. His 80 odd against Imtiaz Ahmed, Bhuvi and Rajpoot on green track was really good.

u dont see big innings from players when rest of batting line up is always collapsing and when tracks are tough if he was playing for mumbai he would have been averaging over 60 like many others:hysterical:

One word Shivlal Yadav, the goonda ruling the roost in Hyderabad Cricket Association. Rayudu and Yadav's son Arjun were of the same age, Rayudu was obviously the more talented one, went onto lead the national u-19 side. Arjun Yadav meanwhile ows his career to his father. Did nothing at U-16 level for Hyderabad still led them, then was promoted to u-19 were again he did nothing but yet got picked for India u-19. While Yadav was failing, Rayudu's stature was going up and that was eyesore for the Senior Yadav. Shivlal Yadav did everything he could to derail Rayudu's career. He was forced to move out of Hyderabad Ranji side to Andhra, in 2000s, that joker Arjun Yadav attacked him in a Ranji match. And after his career was in a limbo Rayudu joined the ICL which is where the decline began. A story of what could have been. As we enter a period of transition, there is still hope for him though. Hopefully the call up to the T20 side wasn't an one off and there will be opportunities in the future. BTW Shivlal Yadav is the HCA chief, his wife is the HCA Women's Cricket chief and the good for nothing Son has been the HCA captain for u-16, u-19, u-22 and is the current captain of the Ranji side. At the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, they even have a stand named after Shivlal Yadav!

Mumbai cricket epitomizes what is exactly wrong with Indian Cricket. Just 2 innings in 4 days , side 1 makes 500 side 2 crawls to 550 or crumbles around 400 and match over. Mumbai fir se champion. Likes of Jafar look like beasts in Ranji and get tamed against half decent pacers-fielding unit on slightly helpful tracks. Look so loose in shot selection. Rohit is going same way now. Worst part is somehow these unskilled player manage to get long run with India, likes of Kanitker avged 18 in 40 ODIs he played.

I u look at the quality of runs,he is right up there with the best in domestic crciket. Bit of steve waugh ish attitude

Why shouldn't I judge him on his domestic performances? His List A career shows that he averages around 32 with just 1 100. That shows an inability to play a long knock. Ishank Jaggi and Kedar Jadhav's stats show that they average in 50s with 4-5 100s, i.e. they can play a big knock when set which is what you want. If I want someone to average 30 with a once in a blue moon 100 I would stick to Yusuf Pathan. Looking good is great but it's consistent performances which should be the basis of selection.

Im a huge fan of this guy. Hopefully he breaks into the ODI team and used as a finisher, with either Dhoni or Raina moving to #5
If everyone is a "finisher" (Raina, Dhoni, Rayudu) who the phuck will play a long innings? We need batsmen who can actually play long innings rather than "finish" an innings coming in at 90/4.

Yuvraj Singh 5. MS Dhoni 6. Ambati Rayudu 7. Suresh Raina Kohli, Pujara, and Dhoni can all play long innings. With Yuvraj, Raina, and Rayudu being used as power hitters

Why not Jadhav in place of Rayudu? Jadhav averages 20 more than Rayudu and has a SR of 108! Just because Rayudu plays in IPL for Mumabi Indians shouldn't get him an automatic spot in the national team. My batting lineup... Gambhir Pujara Kohli Yuvraj Jadhav Dhoni Raina with Ishank Jaggi as extra batsman in the squad.

Because Rayudu has showed that he can bat against Intl bowlers, intimidating atmosphere, and pressure situations. Jadhav will be worse than Jadeja if he ever played
