This has been reported at 3 Places. Bangladesh will have to play a Prelim tournament along with Zim and 6 Qualified Associate Team. The Top 2 teams from this tournament will then the Top 8 Test Nations who will be divided in 2 Groups of 5 each This means really tough competition from teams like Ireland, Afghanistan, Scotland, Zimbabwe & Netherlands (Note except Zim, these are the probable teams which may qualify). Though Bangladesh will be like the Top 8 teams at Home Grounds, but what happens if by an outside chance Bangladesh does not make it- Will we have empty stadiums First an Facebook Page Dedicated to Associate Cricket http://www.facebook.com/AssociateCricket Then in Telegraph News Paper of UK http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cri...ken-games.html And another reliable site dedicated to Associate Cricket http://www.cricketeurope4.net/DATABA...6/002661.shtml

IMO good decision, at least those preliminary round matches will now find some spectators. Bangladesh & Zimbabwe will filter out those minnows from the tournament. I think ICC must 've some backup plan behind the curtain to ensure host team wins these senseless matches against those pony teams to save the tournament.

I don't think we need to worry about Stadiums being empty. Bangladesh, regardless of how the crowd is, still has better turn up in test matches when Bangladesh has played. For a twenty20, I am sure it should have good crowd. It's like crowd of India in late 90s where all test matches used to get great crowd.

I thought they were talking about the ODI WC
No - ODI WC is longer than T20 WC so it but naturally makes sense for ODI WC. Cricket Australia wanted it but Ireland made a huge issue out of it - and naturally. So the ICC instead of coming out with a proper solution, came out with this jugaad solution. At that time, I even said it was stupid but people were rejoicing.

This has to be the stupidest idea ever. how can you tell the host to qualify? Not only will this see a downfall in the revenue of WC T20 if they don't qualify (let's face it, in T20 even the best teams can crumble as seen in a few occassions prevously) stadiums will be half to full empty in most occassion. If they wanted to do a qualification round it should have been done for WC ODI and not T20. Congrats ICC, you'r doing a fine job of destroying cricket around the world. First it was kenya cricket (even after they qualified and played a semi final in one of the WC they never recieved that extra help from ICC) and now limiting associates to play agiainst the best in business in the WC.

This is the most BS i have heard in ages. How can a country host the WC and have to qualify to play. Cricket will go no where if this stupidity continues.
Because ICC does not consider it World Cup.
