How can any interview that begins thus could be anything other than splendid? This was a terrific watch Ravish, thanks for sharing. Amazing to see Gulzar saab rattle talk about Kishan Chandar, Rajinder Bedi, Sardar Zafri, Rajinder Kishan, Shailendra etc. But what was more interesting, to me, was how he could easily rattle off the work of say a Rajinder Kishan or Shailendra! One has to wonder how after 40 odd years in movie industry how has he not been a bitter person?? Remains the scholar in an industry which is decaying fast in terms of originality, specially around literature and poetry, but somehow he retains his optimism that is highly infectious. Over the years I have started to admire his poetry perhaps bit more than I used to. Some of that is down to listening to his songs a million times and hence feeling a bit saturation, but other is perhaps as Gulzaar saab himself writes - Zindagi ab thori samajh aane lagi hai. Fitur hai yeh, magar main aaj bhi muhalle waalon se nazar baccha ke pooch leta hoon khambe se jaa ke ye, wo mere jaan ke baad aayi to nahin thi...
