Clearly SC judges succumbed to pressure. Nandy also played a role in that when he didn't stand by his words. We have seen earlier instances where people stood by what they told and came out of trouble soon. That cartoonist trivedi never apologized for what he did, yet came out of trouble in few days. Similarly Arun Shourie had refused to apologize in some similar controversy over Ambedkar. However would admit that an age of 75 might not have helped Nandy's resolve.
Clarke Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 AFAIK India doesn't have absolute freedom of speech. The interpretations of the limits could vary as per the different opinions of the judges. I'm glad that he was at least not thrown behind bars.
