Hero MotoCorp goes off cricket pitch, leaves game poorer by around Rs 1,200 crore per year After exiting as global sponsors of the International Cricket Council (ICC), and also from the Indian Premier League's (IPL's) central pool of sponsors, HeroMotoCorp, last week, called it quits withIPL's MukeshAmbani-owned franchise Mumbai Indians too.
They have given no reason for this. They have increased their sposorship in other sports like hockey and golf. Could this have something to do with the recent performance of the Indian team?

When contacted, a statement from Hero MotoCorp said: "We have been associated with cricket for over two decades and it is not correct to say we are moving away from cricket. Our decision to not renew IPL contracts does not dilute our commitment to cricket. We will continue to remain engaged with cricket along with other sports."

Just a periodic break I guess. Rememebr despite the national team's performance, IPL title sponsorship went to Pepsi at nearly twice the price DLF paid in 2008 for 5 years (DLF paid 200 crores, Pepsi paid 396 cr). Enough companies in India are waiting to jump on the IPL bandwagon, especially the low cost cell phone makers (Micromax, Max, Spice etc) and Telecom players (Vodafone, Tata Docomo etc.),

Great news! I hope BCCI turn into beggars one day.. that's the only way Indian team can become better.. And these sponsors need to pay attention to Olympic sports...will only do good to the country
