The Outsider Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Looks like Ganguly all over again. I'd take that. Way to go. Support the ouster of a captain who has a better record than Ganguly just because it got some people orgasmic to see his bare chest on the Lords balcony.
ludhianvi Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Guys how come no one talks about zaheer as a choice captain. Why should it always be the batters. well bowlers always(most likely) get injured or are nursing injuries/fitnes problems especially Zaheer.
King Tendulkar Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 WTF. Is this dravids idea of joke. Shocked by this
Holysmoke Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Way to go. Support the ouster of a captain who has a better record than Ganguly just because it got some people orgasmic to see his bare chest on the Lords balcony. Where the hell am I supporting the ouster of Dravid? Wow, what word twisting! First of all, he hasnt been ousted, He's resigned on his own. If you possess an exclusive insight on his mind, please do share it with us. He has resigned to concentrate on his batting. If you know any masala information, please share it.. but till then, remember, he has not been ousted, he has resigned himself. And please quote me, where I said I'm supporting the ouster of Dravid. I voted for yuvraj to be captain. My earlier post said, that at this point of time, If we can get a captain like what Ganguly was, I would take it. Kuch bhi :eyedance:
Bumper Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Good decision from Dravid. He has always been good at self analysis and methinks, his dip in form in the two recent series abroad must have had much to do with his decision. Interestingly this opens up opportunities for some contraversial captaincy choices. Among Sehwag, Dhoni, Yuvraj, KKD, Kumble none are automatic selections in either form of the game. Sachin should be as far away from the captaincy as possible. Which leaves us with Ganguly as the only choice that makes sense. But will Ganguly (our best test batsman currently) continue his form if he's made captain ? Methinks Dhoni would be the likely choice as our test and ODI captain.
The Outsider Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 If you possess an exclusive insight on his mind, please do share it with us. Am trying. If we can get a captain like what Ganguly was, I would take it. Why would you take a worse captain over a better one?
Gambit Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Am trying. Why would you take a worse captain over a better one? No matter how anyone spins it, Rahul Dravid will not be remembered as a better captain than SCG. Ganguly is the best Indian captain ever.
Predator_05 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Pathetic. Why did he bail out, and more importantly why did he make this decision at such a crucial time in India's cricket season ? A better way he could have gone about doing this would have been to announce his resignation a few months in advance. How is the team going to react to such a sudden change of heart ? At least a premeditated decision would have allowed for a new captain to be earmarked and the transistion would have been an easier one. Now the BCCI and the selectors will have to play musical chairs to pick someone because there is hardly any time remaining to make an informed decision. I never thought of him as a great captain, but he was the best man for the job. I can't imagine someone like Dhoni or Yuvraj taking over. Sehwag might have been a good candidate, but he is going to be another non-performing captain, especially in ODIs. Whatever
The Outsider Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 No matter how anyone spins it' date=' Rahul Dravid will not be remembered as a better captain than SCG. Ganguly is the best Indian captain ever.[/quote'] I am not spinning anything. Fact is Dravid got better results with a worse team than Ganguly.
Prudent Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Please DO NOT make Sachin...look at his records
Gambit Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 I am not spinning anything. Fact is Dravid got better results with a worse team than Ganguly. Is Ponting a better captain than SRW?
The Outsider Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Is Ponting a better captain than SRW? No, because he had a better team than Waugh.
Guest dada_rocks Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 No' date=' it doesn't. Vengsarkar's job is to select the team and get the fack out.[/quote'] His job is more than that otherwise he would not be on tour
Holysmoke Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Am trying. Why would you take a worse captain over a better one? Because the better captain has resigned, and it doesnt look like he will take up the job again right now. I'd rather take a worse captain, as compared to the "worst" captain. Dravid has resigned, even if he was a better captain, he is not gonna captain the team now. So we gotta decide who to take. No use comparing anybody with Dravid, as he is not gonna be captain now. So its not a choice.. as you imply We dont have a choice.. on taking the better captain. Please understand that.. the "better" captain is no longer in the running for captain. We cannot select him as captain.
Bumper Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 I couldnt care less how great Dravid was as a captain. India cannot afford to lose its best test batsman to captaincy. As a windfall this may open up a test slot for Yuvraj or Sehwag (if one of them become captains)
Guest dada_rocks Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Worse team what the heck are u guys ON about Dravid got team in great shape unlike ganguly who when took reins there were problems on every front from match fixing to home series loss an ignominy unheard of in recent history..
The Outsider Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Because the better captain has resigned, and it doesnt look like he will take up the job again right now. Point taken, but in that respect even Ganguly has said he doesn't want to captain anymore.
Predator_05 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Gangulaaay will never captain India again.
The Outsider Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 His job is more than that otherwise he would not be on tour Okay, please explain what the job of a selector is and what the job of a captain is?
