The Outsider
I think Dravid is just afraid of taking on a $hit Pakistan team on Krumblers and touring Australia after their weak links, McWarne, have retired. Pu$$y. Link to comment
Gambit
Sad day.... I hope a lot of people here are happy ...... Why sad day? If he means ODIs, I'm happy. And if he means both, then you know who will become Test captain again! Link to comment

varun
More details : Dravid resigns as India captain Cricinfo staff September 14, 2007 Rahul Dravid has resigned as India captain, Cricinfo has learnt. In a letter written to the Indian board, he has asked to be relieved of the captaincy before Australia's forthcoming tour of India, beginning later this month. A statement from Niranjan Shah, secretary of the Indian board, said Dravid met Sharad Pawar, the board president, in New Delhi yesterday. He "expressed his desire to step down as captain of the Indian team and requested that he should not be considered for the job from the ensuing Australia series." The statement said Dravid wanted to concentrate on his game. Dravid, 33, has captained India in 25 Tests and 79 ODIs. He took over the captaincy from Sourav Ganguly two years ago, following India's tour of Zimbabwe. Under his captaincy India won eight Tests, including series wins in Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh and England. That's how it works in Indian cricket anyway. Varun, he has won test series in all those countries mentioned. Pakistan is the only ambiguous one in the list but he lead in 2/3 tests and scored the most brilliant 270 in the one Ganguly came back as captain to lift the cup. Link to comment

Tapioca
Dravid is not a natural leader of men and in better times, it could have been considered a good thing if he resigned. But these are not exactly good times. Apart from Ganguly, who IMNSHO is not a very good choice at this point of his career, we just don't have anybody. Link to comment
Chandan
What's going on here then ? This was totally unexpected as far as I'm concerned ! Certainly! I'm just shocked! Why did he do this? Was he feeling undue pressure?? What is it?? Link to comment
Rajiv
His batting and pressure perhaps Link to comment

Dravid has a better W/L ratio than Ganguly disregarding minnows with a much worse team. He has won more series outside the subcontinent than any Indian captain, barring Wadekar. Link to comment
Sooda
Maybe he thought it was affecting his batting too much He wasnt a great captain anyway He should retire from ODIs- with SRT and Gangs- it will be the least smooth transition ever, but it should have happened a while ago- if we do not groom for WC 2011 now then when will we?- Im sure that was part of RDs thinking If all three continue under whoever the next capt is it will not be easy for him at all under their collective shadow Link to comment
