According to Global Terrorism index that profile data on terrorism from across the word, India is the fourth most affected nation in the world by terrorism, on after Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan. In the year 2011 there were nearly 1800 death in Iraq, 1468 in Pak, 1300 in Afghanistan while 400 in India. Many nations like US, UK, Russia have taken some strong measures after terrorist struct them. India on the other hand still s0cks on many aspects in countering terrorism.

  • Even after 2 day alert was given nobody bothered to check the functioning of all the CCTVs installed.
  • After 1990s exploit of sea route to smuggle arms and ammunition in the country for terrorism, nothing is done even today
  • After 26/11, Mumbai still have not installed proposed 5000 CCTVs

The list goes on. How many more lives will have to be lost before we really take this as a serious, a number 1 priority, issue? Things like CCTV, and modernization of police forces, intelligence management etc needs to be done quickly. Millions of $s wasted in corruption but nothing is done towards the security of the citizen. These improvements in the infrastructure will also help in curbing the other criminal activities, especially crime against women.

Surely a per capita basis would give a more clearer picture. Wouldn't last year someone like Norway (Brehvik) top the list. Or even US featuring with their frequent mass shootings by a terrorist.
