SLICKR392 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 outy did not said his batting costed us games! things like this are not only costing us games but are setting back our cricket by 2-3 years! Has lost matches on his own or at least lost the opportunity to win matches. Agree with the 2nd part but the first part, seriously?
Old guy Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Agree with the 2nd part but the first part' date=' seriously?[/quote'] first part what? we would have been number 1 under kumble.. (we were going to actually he set the base ) before that dravid did much better job as captain all this tells me is team was performing and dhoni did nothing tbh his job was after settled team replace it properly ..he did not after they retired his job was to pick correct guys again he did not.. forget this even in matches we were doing good he let go of atleast 1 win in west indies,1 in new zealand

When I have already mentioned that he is a piss poor captain. Winning matches on his own means his performance in the game not his captaincy.

Dhoni even captained without Kumble in the last test. We won the 2 tests in which Dhoni captained and drawn those with Kumble as captain.

The Outsider Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Agree with outy here. He missed out on a lot of triples and quadruple centuries when India's top order were doing plenty and hence we lost 0-8. You've missed the point in your haste. You do agree that Dhoni's captaincy has cost the team wins, right? Sidhoni was arguing that we should overlook that because the team reached number 1 when he was captain. So I asked him to give me concrete reasons and examples where Dhoni's captaincy was responsible for test wins - I even gave one such example myself of the Nagpur test. Just because the team reached number 1 when Dhoni happened to be captain doesn't mean anything in itself.

Selectors not dropping the big 4 and retaining them forever is also on Dhoni and not on the selectors? outy did not said his batting costed us games! things like this are not only costing us games but are setting back our cricket by 2-3 years! ms dhoni winning match again for australia :proud: remember htis moment guys see the feild see how best bowlers are not bowling :hatsoff: and soon starc will be on 50 and smith on 100 How stupid do those comments make you look now? Setting India back "2-3 years? Really? If Dhoni is setting India back by "2-3 years" in this match, how about Clarke now? There's a reason why judgement shouldn't be reached on a pitch/captain/match unless both teams have batted on the surface at least once coz you end up looking an idiot like you are right now. The pitch is as flat as it comes and Aussies actually had better conditions, if it is believable. I'm sure now you will go on and blame Dhoni for the pitch. Making a point or blaming a captain is fine but doing that match after match, session after session and in a series where India is leading 2-0 and dominating the 3rd simply makes you look like a hater who finds fault with something for the sake of it. If you wanna be that **** find any match and every captain will look foolish.

Crookbond Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Sabby, This wicket was a flat wicket and their so call tail-enders were Starc and Smith (hardly tail enders) and they scored. What's the matter with that?

If you don't care about performance against "weak side" why keep on moaning about it every day of the series :dontknow: 2. Yes, I did see the match and unlike you I had brains enough to wait till both sides had batted before making idiotic statements.. If you think this pitch wasn't flat god help you. Aussies are here to play as well and on a flat pitch tail does get stuck in. Not every batsman is like Phil Hughes. 3. Nobody's dancing around with joy but it's pretty annoying to see haters moaning and bi@tching as well. What do you think of Clarke as a captain? Is he any good? Everything looks good when you are winning but if you don't have players at your disposal to play in certain conditions you can't do much. It's easy to say Dhoni went 0-8. Sure he did but did you see the lack of runs or lack of wicket taking bowlers at his disposal? He was in the same situation as Clarke. Without runs and a go to bowler(s) you can't do much. I am sure as per you Clarke has taken Aussies "2-3 years back" as well :giggle:

Agreed. I was expecting them to get them out under 300-350 but 400+ is horrible after having them 7 down.
Old guy Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 why should it even matter what clarke has done or does? i know not having good bowlers can be a problem but it was not problem here ,dont know what ur implying.. they were 7 down and after 5 minutes in morning we saw feild spread dont know how u can justify that.. and about clarke he had made some very bad management decison should read my comments on some other thread u will know how i hate when people compare any one with him as if he is some sort of great benchmark,u know what i totally belive in our cricket is 2 years back now with rahane still not debuting hacks like raina and yuvraj again n again getting chance and no proper bowler has been blooded in the team after yadav.. and in all these things dhoni had crucial say in the end so yes its gonna cost us time and it already has.. a good captain would have thought about transition in advance ,lets even forgive him for that after transition started he will atleast select proper players.. give me one good reason to not debut rahane or even rohit (if u beilive him to be good ) while riana gets chance in every 4 th test.. how is he not wasting time ? and again i will say dont jsut ignore bad decisions in feild just because we came out and batted well its flat but not that flat u cannot get wickets . i still cannot justify spreading of feild and choosing wrong bowlers at start of day not when they are 7 down!
Old guy Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 You're talking as if Starc and Smith are tail enders - they are NOT! starc is a very good one but if he scores near 100 u should be dissapointed it was not just cos of pitch ,should have attacked him more at start its not impossible to get people out on this pitch but its damn harder with no one close to bat
Old guy Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Agreed. I was expecting them to get them out under 300-350 but 400+ is horrible after having them 7 down. but but it does not matter cos dhawan played a magical innings i honestly dont get this logic why does it matters how we bat when i saw at time of bowlingg defensive feilds when bowl was turning and reversing enough to have a chance of wicket? we all thought feilds were spread to early im not alone,so why does a brutal innings by dhawan changes that?
Ultimate_Game Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 why should it even matter what clarke has done or does? i know not having good bowlers can be a problem but it was not problem here ,dont know what ur implying.. they were 7 down and after 5 minutes in morning we saw feild spread dont know how u can justify that.. and about clarke he had made some very bad management decison should read my comments on some other thread u will know how i hate when people compare any one with him as if he is some sort of great benchmark,u know what i totally belive in our cricket is 2 years back now with rahane still not debuting hacks like raina and yuvraj again n again getting chance and no proper bowler has been blooded in the team after yadav.. and in all these things dhoni had crucial say in the end so yes its gonna cost us time and it already has.. a good captain would have thought about transition in advance ,lets even forgive him for that after transition started he will atleast select proper players.. give me one good reason to not debut rahane or even rohit (if u beilive him to be good ) while riana gets chance in every 4 th test.. how is he not wasting time ? and again i will say dont jsut ignore bad decisions in feild just because we came out and batted well its flat but not that flat u cannot get wickets . i still cannot justify spreading of feild and choosing wrong bowlers at start of day not when they are 7 down! All that's fine but when you make statements like Dhoni's "job" was to manage transition you sound foolish. A captain's job is, and should not be, to handle the transition. It's selectors job to do so. Captain can lead the team but he should not be asked to do selector's job. What did Srikkanth did in his tenure? None of the oldies were transitioned and we paid the price. Why is Tendulkar in the team now? Should it be Dhoni whose job it is to keep him out of the team? Kohli, Pujara and to a lesser extent Dhawan have shown that if trusted the youngsters can deliver. So why have likes of Tendulkar in the team when Rahane is sitting on the sidelines twiddling his thumbs? We failed in transitioning the oldies and no captain could have done anything about it without selectors doing their jobs first. One more thing... on a flat wkt like this you do get partnerships. Remember Gillespie & Martyn in 2004 or Steve Waugh & tail in 2001-02? That happened under Ganguly's captaincy. In cricket these things happen but everytime you start blaming the captain it's of no use. Not every game would be like 2nd Test where the tail gets out cheaply and historically India always had trouble knocking over the tail - much before Dhoni. It's not a new problem and a direct function of us not having a bowler who canblast the tail out.
The Outsider Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Why is Tendulkar in the team now? Should it be Dhoni whose job it is to keep him out of the team? Why not? If Dhoni is such a goti waala kaptaan as you fanboys would like us to believe he can always pick Rahane over Tendulkar from the squad given to him by the selectors. :hmmm:
