End of Aussie Era

Their era of dominace is I believe over. They may still be the no1 team and will of course win more then they lose. However, I believe there complete dominance they have displayed for over a decade is OVER! Reasons 1. No warne. They have no quality spinner now. Mcagill and co are not in same league. Macgill in tetss will always give the four ball. Warne loss will be to much. 2. No Mcgrath. Clarke is half decent but is quite old and not the same class. The rest of the pacers are nothing much. Lee is no leader of an attack. Tait sprays it every were and is hit and miss. The rest are average. 3. Pace attack is average now. There batting will still be good but there bowling has come back to the back and will not give the control like before. They will have days were they got smoked all over the park and have no answers now. 4. Ageing batters. Hayden, Gilly and even Ponting are not getting younger. There performances will dip from how it was 2 or 3 years back. This will also effect their fielding. All in all a new era of cricket has arrived and the aussies have come back to the pack

I refuse to believe that. The culture of sports is strong in that country and esp in cricket that they will come up with a solid gameplan and tactics for this twenty20 version and they will be producing and nourishing a lot of talent in the future so I reckon they will still be a huge force. However, it can only be good for the game of cricket if they lose here and there and make the game look like a game which can swing either way and not a sure shot result

yes but in warne they have no replacement. in tests he will not be replaced satisfactorily. he used to win then games which otherwise would have been lost. also bracken, johnson, tait and lee are pacers who i dont really rate. there bowling attack is now much weaker.

Yes they are weaker than before but still stronger than the other teams.

Its all about intensity, temparement , mental psyche and skills combined together. On paper, Indian batsmen are one of the best. Howcome India doesnt win anything substansial?...There in lies the difference and why oz will still be a force to reckon with.

I am not saying they will be rubbish. If you look at my OP I say they will still probably be the no 1 team. My point is they wont be dominant. They will lose a lot more matches and series then before. They will look fallible at times unlike before.

Well, that can only be good for the game of cricket. I want subcontinent teams India, Srilanka and Pakistan to rise as forces and give the gore the run for their money and one day wanna watch a India vs Pakistan worldcup final

I would rather have them do well than aus or saf. However at the same time, I wouldnt want them to do good against us. I would liek both india , pak to do good parallely but when its india vs pakistan, india should beat them.

I am not saying they are right or their political agenda is right. They are consumed by hate as well. But only if general public will stop hating, then only one day we can hope for peace in s.e. asia.

Reason being no warne, no macgrath. The bowlers are not all that from what I have seen. They are good but not greats of the game. Lets see how there batters cope when oppo piles on the runs and they have to look at score board and see 600 + from oppo. Look what happened last time we toured there and got runs. Suddenly they were poor

I agree with you, but if they continue to remain the undisputed #1, surely their era of dominance wouldn't have ended ? You can only call an end to an era once the team falls from it's high ranking, ie; if AUS drop to 2nd place in the ICC Test Championship

Be that as it may, they wil find it impossible to replace McGrath and Warne - two bowlers who would easily make their all-time XI. Their new up and coming stars certainly won't be of the same calibre. I don't think much of Shaun Tait to be honest, although he can be devastating on his day. Brett Lee is an average Test bowler. Bracken is decent but needs the right conditions (namely; swing) to take wickets in bunches. Never seen Hilfenhaus play, so can't comment on him. I reckon India could pile up some big runs against this bowling attack.
