First step to solving the problem is to acknowledge that it exists. Not sitting at your computer screens or in living rooms and talking about it at arms length as if you have graduated from the situation. You haven't. The **** problems are all around you and not just in some far flung village. Talking about the problem in us (the educated, law abiding middle class) vs them (illiterate poor masses) terms is counter productive. I (and several others) made this point in the other (rape related) thread as well that the problem is first and foremost economics and secondly, Law and Order situation as a whole. Trying (and failing) to address just one facet of the L&O is no solution at all (other than the fact that it may soothe the egos of the chattering classes). And ****, I'm starting to sound to Arundhati Roy.

The rape victim should deserve no sympathy. What a way to acknowledge a problem! :hail:
What is so special about this rape victim? She is from phorun? or because this is all over the international news media making a mincemeat out of INDIA SUPAPOWA story? Something I posted earlier in the thread Should a war reporter ***** and cry about getting shot at the front? Again I will spell it out for you. Your India is a shithole... in totality. Women getting raped isn't a standalone issue. Because there are million other big issues. And the longer you people keep burying your head in the sand like the ostriches that you are, problems won't just add up but get worse.

[1] A rape victim is a victim of crime. She deserved not to be raped contrary to your high holiness thoughts. Apparently, that's what the constitution says and the last I read it applies to all of India. [2] There is no similarity between a rape victim and a war reporter. Any crime incident can be trivialized using that comparison and this is essentially a fallacy. [3] My India? Seriously. If it isn't yours then you shouldn't really comment in the first place. Next, million other "bigger" issues? Oh and you are the one to tell me I have my "heads buried in the sand". Finally, it wasn't your perspective of the incident put your pure callous and attitude where you almost stopped short of saying that the woman "deserved" it makes your mind a million times more a shithole than what India is right now.

You can't see the forest for the trees.

Who the **** travels to MP? That too on a cycle. Stupid people deserve no sympathy.
Is that your way of saying that people who get run over by a drunk driver on the road have it coming to them for walking outside?

No because drunk drivers are less than a minuscule portion of society. Law and order breakdown isn't just affection female safety but safety of the nation. So attempts to address female safety will be futile. Topic of discussion should be Law and Order breakdown.

100% agree - Couldn't you have put in such simple words earlier too?

So if the topic is law and order breakdown why don't they deserve sympathy for their ordeal?
When venturing into a lawless area, one assumes charge of personal safety.

No, topic should be specific focus on individual security, safety and mobility. That is the central, most basic unit of a democratic free society and everything builds up from that. Your 'macroscopic' approach is largely foolhardy here, especially when you are talking about something on a much more fundamental/basic level problem. Further, if you think rape is a function of economics, you are just as clueless as a hawaldaar from middle-of-nowhere India. I also bet, you think rape is a function of how these women 'dress' or 'flaunt' themselves, right Surajmal Khansaheb ?

When venturing into a lawless area' date=' one assumes charge of personal safety.[/quote'] apply the same cold hard rhetoric to your Kashmiri Pandits when they venture into 'lawless area', then. They assume charge of personal safety upon themselves too. Kapish ?

What I did say is that Law and Order and Economics are intricately linked.

Logic Fail. You being a Bong, I will give you a mulligan. Think about it and try again.

What I want India to be like is irrelevant to the discussion. Reality is large parts of India are unsafe. Its like the sexual harassment those female reporters faced during "arab spring" in Egypt. You can blame those savages but the reporters should have known better than to be in the midst of an unstable situation. Another example - Should a war reporter ***** and cry about getting shot at the front?
What an idiotic comment.
