At least people from Bombay care about their own countrymen unlike this bunch who gives standing ovations to Pakistanis and cares more about people from another country but same ethnicity. And who says the issue is not LTTE? Weren't there protests against the hanging of Rajiv Gandhi's killers? EDIT: Not only were there protests against the hanging of Rajiv Gandhi's killers the legislature passed a resolution against it.
Sonia Gandhi also supports the mercy pettision of Nalini , the main accused in Rajiv Gandhi case.Does she support LTTE too? Jaya is the only leader in tamil nadu who actually is against LTTE in Tamil Nadu. She is the only politician who called Prabhakaran a terrorist publicaly.Main reason for that is because she first came to power (1991) accusing Karunanidhi of collaborating with LTTE and Prabhakaran to assasinate Rajiv Gandhi. U cant find a single quote from Jaya in support of LTTE.Actually she said during the war that casualties are natural during war referring to the LTTE decimation at the hands of Srl Army(cant find that quote unfortunately).

Yep we are the ones shooting children in cold blood or bomb schools in the name of war
Weren't that the LTTE targeted sinhalese schools on their website and bombed public buses when they were on peace talks. well. it has to end one way or another. in the process the innocent people had to sacrifice their lives. specially child soldiers under 15. really you call that human. now everything is over and heading towards a resolution and rebuilding of the tamil villages. why cause problems now. only to take things backwards. just pure politics to win the people over for election.

We aren't talking about what "will happen". We are discussing the merits of the events which "are happening". Now, as far as country sacrifice goes - let me remind you that your fellow country tamils have far more important problems than SL tamils
Pretty true actually. One big reason Jaya is forcing this issue to the forefront is because she is hoping that the huge power crisis facing our state put in the back burner.
the TN government is influencing domestic policy using the SL Tamil issue as an alibi. So, indeed it is affecting the country.
As for this i believe citizens of India have a right to influence India's policies whether foreign or domestic.Afterall we are a democratic country arent we? And its the protests in the streets of tamil nadu that is forcing regional parties as well as Congress to stance in the Srl Tamil issue.

Won't the Lankan players of other teams play in Chennai?
http://www.ndtv.com/article/cheat-sheet/jayalalithaa-has-her-way-no-sri-lankan-players-in-chennai-ipl-matches-347116?pfrom=home-lateststories
Sri Lankan cricketers will not play Indian Premier League matches in Chennai. The IPL governing council decided this at a hurried tele-conference with team owners after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa wrote a letter to the Prime Minister today saying that no IPL matches would be allowed in the state capital if they involved Sri Lankan players, umpires or officials. The tournament begins next week and at least 10 matches are scheduled in Chennai
Pathethic to say the least

Well i am one of those in Tamil nadu who considered LTTE and Prbhakaran a terrorist org.But that shouldnt really justify the way Srilankan army acted. There should be a difference btw terrorists and army.Killing children cold blood , executing those who come to surrender arent much different from what a terrorist organisation would do. But i certainly agree its timeits time to put all these behind and rebuild the tamil society. But are the present Srl govt doing enough? From what i read (certainly not the most neutral source ) , Tamil hasnt been accepted as a official langue and tamils are forced to learn Singalese. Wasnt that one of the key reasons why the conflict started 40 years back? They arent given political freedom and most of them are still in camps even 4 years after war with no hope of getting their land or enough money to start a new life.

Thats where the entire hypocrisy is. When the innocents were actually being slaughtered in 2008-09' date= we happily allowed Lankan cricketers to play in the IPL and at Chennai. Why were there no protests back then? Why did the political parties not raise the matter the way they are doing now? All this is nothing more than a political drama and nothing else.
The DMK was happy to be in power at that time to be a bystander. Even now maybe nothing might have happened but for that killing of the young kid which sparked protests all over. I'm not saying hurting innocent monks and banning SL players is right, though.. And generally, to say india shouldn't care about the politics of SL is a joke. We were the ones at one point who trained the LTTE..When the problem has risen to such extent, it can't act as if it idoesn't have anything to do with it.

We have enough problems affecting tamils and other people in India as it is and we dont need to poke into other country's affairs. Get over this ethnic fanaticism. SL has been waging a war for decades against LTTE and unfortunately, there is bound to be collateral damage. Hopefully from now on, the rebuilding process begins and tamils in SL get their due rights. Hope good sense prevails here too and SL players are allowed in IPL.

Why should'nt the CSK games be moved to a 'neutral' venue? Why should other franchises not be allowed to play their highly paid Sri Lankan professionals in Chennai? But ofcourse it wont happen, Chennai will still get all the games. Works well for Srinivasan and his Franchise..the teams to suffer will be MI, DD, Pune and Hyderabad!

So tamilnadu fishermen getting killed isnt an indian problem?

epic chewtiyapa. The politicians are atleast being clever in exploiting the issue to gloss over governance failures. It is the people who are idiots to fall for it.

Is banning cricketers the only solution..or even a solution? Why doesnt Jaya ask for India's Ambassador to SL be called back, all trade ties to be cut? You know why? Because shes a attention seeking megalomaniac..she's done whats easy..found soft targets and she has enough proud Tamilians who will suck up to it!

Because the CSK is a tamil nadu based team. And why arent Pakistani players not allowed in India. Why arent other franchises not allowed picking players because something happened in Mumbai?

IPL is the Indian Premier League! Why should DD have to suffer by not playing Jayawardene. If TN has such a big problem hosting Singhalese cricketers, then play those matches else where. This is business my friend!

lol she has already asked for it actually as stupid as it sounds :cantstop:

Not really. She is being forced to do this because of the protests in Tamil nadu. This is the first time since the anti hindi protests that large no. of student community ahs come to streets to protest. Its not like she is getting any easy life out of it.She tried to curb the protests by arresting them in midnight and forcing them into hospitals which only helped spread the protests. She isnt doing because she seeks attention but because she has no other option. Why do u think Karunanidhi withdrew support from Central govt despite the 2g involving Kanimozhi?

The Pakistan issue is totally different. Terrorsts from there attacked Mumbai and killed our citizens. Except reports of arresting Indian fishermen, Lanka has not moved against India in any way. Their treatment of their Tamil citizens is a concern but the national government should take it to the UN. Tamilnadu is not the thekedaar of Tamil rights all over the world and the government should look to improve governance first before inciting people to protest and threaten violence. It sets a very dangerous precedent which will come back to bite us

That has already happened - soon we will have another community justifying their violence for the peace of their brethren in another country.

Well sri lankan government is already very poor to do anything of massive degree but there are rapid development all around the country since the end of the war. its not just the tamil areas. there are lot more sinhalese rural areas who dont have access lot of the facilities the people in the south west do. Jaffna is right now the largest city in north. they is no rift between and tamil and sinhalese in sri lanka. lot of tamils work in colombo and they make very good friends. reason why tamil are are forced to speak sinhalese is that the south west of sri lanka which is the most developed in the country speak sinhalese. in order for tamils to communicate with them, they need to learn the language. just like sinhalese having to learn english when going abroad for better prospects. also for tamil not being an official language. all the signs and public notices are are still written in the 3 languages english, sinhalese and tamil. Also tamil is taught as a language in sinhalase school from year 6 upto 9. its upto them weather they want to continue learning a new language. thats just the an overview of the situation in sri lanka. its mostly the tamil people aborad who never visited the country in over 10 years think the situation is still as bad as it was 20 years ago when country was ruled by corrupt politics. Right now there is no need for any fuss.
