saneindian Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Mar 30, 2013 I don't think it matters whether I am captaining the side or not. Captaincy has never affected my game. I have never ever felt the pressure on my batting while leading the side," Sehwag said in an interview in New Delhi on Saturday. "I have never felt any pressure as captain, my approach to batting has always remained the same", he said when asked whether Sri Lankan Mahela Jayawardene donning the mantle of captain will lessen the burden on him. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Cricket/cricketnews/Captaincy-does-not-affect-me-Virender-Sehwag/Article1-1034665.aspx Sep 14, 2012 Team mentor TA Sekar said Sehwag wants to focus solely on his batting. "Viru told us a few months ago that he wanted to bat freely and suggested that we make Mahela the captain," he said. http://www.rediff.com/cricket/report/ipl-ctt20-virender-sehwag-mahela-jayawardene-gautam-gambhir-kolkata-knight-riders/20120914.htm Sep 21, 2009 He thanked GMR for accepting his request, saying he would now solely focus on his batting. "I would like to thank GMR for their understanding in accepting my request to step down. Personally, I would like to concentrate on my own batting and contribute to the team," he said. "Viru has been a source of great strength and inspiration to the team. When he expressed a desire to step down in order to fully focus and concentrate on batting, we respected his decision and accepted his request," Daredevils owner GMR's chairman Srinivas Bommidala said. http://cricket.rediff.com/report/2009/sep/21/sehwag-steps-down-as-delhi-daredevils-captain.htm Viru paaji, decide it for once and all if captaincy affects your batting. Why so many flip flops?
Crookbond Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 First he needs to decide whether he wants to play cricket or sell water melons in Najafgarh. In case he is serious, he can start with some fitness drills and speak to a sports psychologist.
SLICKR392 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Hope he gets back ASAP Ain't no replacement for this guy. Never!
rkt.india Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Hope he gets back ASAP Ain't no replacement for this guy. Never! No replacement for Sunny, Kapil, Kumble, SRT, Dravid, VVS ever.
SLICKR392 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 No replacement for Sunny' date=' Kapil, Kumble, SRT, Dravid, VVS ever.[/quote'] This thread isn't about them. :winky:
namasteji1 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 No replacement for Sunny' date=' Kapil, Kumble, SRT, Dravid, VVS ever.[/quote'] Yeah, hope Kumble come backs too. No replacement for this guy, hardly any good legspinners for India now. He could have played another 5 years.

Number Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I think he is right. Captaincy hasn't affected his game but its a kind of extra burden for him, which he doesn't like when he is solely wants to concentrate on batting
Pagalpanti Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 You know this puts into perspective a lot of things. Sehwag's best period was 2008-2010 - When apparently he wasn't so focused about captaincy. He was all good being part of the team as player. Ever since World cup its been quite obvious Gambhir and Sehwag felt they were captaincy material for India both riding high on IPL success and also World cup. And then 8-0 popped up news about rifts between them and Dhoni.
