I want to buy him a good reliable system as a surprise gift. Please suggest some options. If someone owns a system please share your reviews budget 400 USD

Jersey #10 Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 I did some research and came across a couple of systems. both have hindi packages. 1. Magic Sing - 1000 hindi songs ($399), 2000 hindi songs ($499) 2. Microky duostar - 1400 hindi songs ($399) I am not sure if it's worth spending that extra 100 bucks for 600 more songs with magic sing for 499. I can't even find proper reviews on either of the systems. The good thing about Magic Sing is that they have 5 additional hindi song chips at ~$60ea while Microky doesn't have that option yet (it's coming soon). Also, it would be good to know how good the wireless mics are with the two options and other technical stuff...

I bet if the demand was higher, more companies would compete and drive the prices down. According to my dad, everyone in his friends circle and both of his brothers own a karaoke system. It's so rare that even Sam Ash stores don't carry the English version of it. I had to get them to special order this for me today. Hopefully it's got enough of those "old is gold" songs because it's very difficult to please my dad.
coffee_rules Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I have a year's subscription to meragana.com and use a PA system to stream it online and mix it with the mic (wireless), the lyrics go onto the projecter from the laptop. I host top class karoke parties this way. I don't want to pay for karoke mic things (magic song) that connect to tv directly with some bad music replication. meragana is good enough for my needs.

If it were for me, I'd have gone with something similar to what you described but it's a different story for parents you know. they like the plug and play easy to use stuff. The cool thing about the stystem i got is that the mics have a built in remote. basically you can select w/e songs you like with the keypad on the mic and the system comes with a song book that shows which song is what number in the system. Pressing that number starts that song on tv. very easy to use... good for the parents i'd say (i hope) also, you can carry this little system and two mics to your friends (or whoever) house and hook it up.
