ravishingravi Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 "US and France are trained in simplicity and Indians are trained in complexity. Hence India will win." "There are two kinds of systems---centralized systems and decentralized systems." As I said, I was expecting much worse, but it was not as bad as I thought it would but some gems are still hard to miss.

ravishingravi Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 yV1qkgo6wMY Guha rips into RG and Modi also later to some extent. I quite agree with him on RG and Modi to some extent. I also believe RG is well intentioned. Just not good enough. Just not in right profession.
straighttalk Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Long story short' date=' his uncle is PM for the last so many years and still he has balls to come on stage and act like a visionary. Reality is that his khandan has run this country for so many years so he should STFU unless he can start contributing himself[/quote'] I have a huge problem with people going against the Gandhi family for ruling the country...it is we people who have always voted for them. It is Congress's prerogative to choose who leads the party...that is an internal matter for them. They stand election and win..I have the highest admiration for them. If BJP and their internet fanboys cant challenge that and whine on internet forums...it is their problem. Face the election and win before criticizing others for winning election after election. Yes India has a lot of problems but it has advanced quite a bit in the last 50-60 year and the Gandhi family has been responsible for quite a bit. Truth is BJP is actually quite disconnected from mainstream India. Yes, it has a following the urban educated middle class in North India but thats about it. Many people regard Vajpyee as a great leader but carefully overlook many of these points- 1. The Kandahar escort of terrorists by the FM 2. The Kargil fiasco..credit goes to Indian Army for winning it under great duress 3. Operation Parakram- if you dont have the political will to order war why bother with wasting so much money and men for nothing 4. And the great Pokhran was actually planned by Narasimha Rao but yes executed by Vajpyee

But lot of development has also happened. So praise lord i.e. Gandhi parivaar. I for one admire Chacha Nehru, but this pakodi blanket statement is hard to buy. I guess there is an audience for that RG speech.

straighttalk Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 India has become a better country than it was before in the last half century. And part of that credit goes to the Government. Have they been ideal...no but to say that nothing has happened is utter bullshit. yes 50% of the population is poor..but poverty has been alleviated, education has improved, industrialization has progressed...a lot needs to be done...but to say that nothing has happened is just looking at the glass half empty is the height of pessimism or deliberate distortion of truth.

If even they put an iota of well being of the country first, our major cities would not be a picture of chaotic mess. It's funny how major developed states are not ruled by Congress.

Besides, almost every bad practice in Indian politics was started by Congress - back in 1962 they started the practice of sending retired politicians as Governors (UP CM Sampurnanand had to resign due to internal party politics so he was "rewarded" with the Governorship of Rajasthan), they are the ones who really gave birth to the culture of family politics in India and in turn converted the Indian National Congress into Gandhi-Nehru Pvt Ltd where anyone other than a Gandhi family member can only dream of the top job, they are the ones who started the culture of accepting money from corporate houses for election purposes and then making laws to favor such corporate houses, they are also the ones who started the tradition of "rewarding" party loyalists with plum posts (Ex - Khushwant Singh in his autobiography openly admits that because he always supported Indira Gandhi when she was out of power after the emergency, he expected some rewards when she came back to power and he did get his rewards in the from of a Rajya Sabha seat and the editorship of Hindustan Times). They also started the practice of making party loyalists the President of the country - this has led to people like Pratibha Patil becoming the President. Above all that there's the emergency itself -subverting the constitution for their own ends. And BTW I haven't even started with the scams and riots yet - but I won't go into those or it'll take pages and pages and will result in a locked thread :winky:
Sachin=GOD Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Cricketer and BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu took a pot shot, tweeting “After listening to Rahul Gandhi, Manmohan Singh said ‘My silence is better than this speech’.”
Sachin=GOD Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 @jothishnair1010 : Nehru was called Chacha, Gandhi- Bapu. Subash Bose- Netaji. And now Rahul Gandhi - Pappu @Rajsan2012 : Wah! @JayHind : Narendra Modi : this country is my mother. Rahul Gandhi: this country is my mother's. The complexity is in the apostrophe

Sachin=GOD Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Rahul Gandhi, chuffed by the praise showered upon him by adoring party workers after his CII speech, penned this poem exclusive for The Unreal Times on what was going through his mind during the speech: This morning, at midnight, I had a multi colour vision Went to mummy, woke her up, and sought her permission; To share it with all the world, on the stage of CII, And to have a closer look, at the tycoons, just eye to eye; Didi gave glass of milk, with Kapil Paaji’s Boost, Told me that’s the nation’s energy, as I licked a butter toast; Should I wear a shining armour, and ride a white horse? That’s the fight of royal knights, I’m only meeting the boss; Should I shave, and wear a suit, I am meeting the best minds, What if they turn out to be, just the bootlicking kinds? White kurta, that will show them, how my rupee is spent, Gently also remind them about tightening their own belt; Can I drive through Lutyen’s roads, in an express train? A waste of time, it’s not happening, chirped my ticking brain; On the way, I read the speech, oh it’s for one full hour, Montek Singh, must have written it, in a glorious stupor; There I was, on the stage, just beginning the speech, Wish instead, I were sitting on, a Colombian beach; Carpenters, adivasis, I can hear those hearts beat, I am loving this, I surely must be stepping up the heat; Devolution, empowerment and political architecture, Don’t rely on Manmohan Singh, just a poor caricature; Thirty minutes, good going, I am beginning to beam, But Kris tells me, this is drivel, you are losing all the steam; These are twitter times, keep it short, words don’t matter, Restructure and differentiate, as I learnt in my alma mater; Shuffling the sheets, just in time, a new brainwave strikes, Youth icon, keeping cool, I begin adjusting the mike; I can’t handle this CII, it’s a bunch of grey hair, I would rather teach the nation’s youth from an armchair; In my days, didn’t I drool on Sofia Sayeed Haq? It must still appeal, that MTV, I couldn’t believe my luck! GDP, Economy, let me cut all the crap, Straight to chase, ex tempore, I will simply rap; Shake the hands, walk around and hug a poor soul The kids will love it; I am sure I am making them drool Sixty minutes, the times up, i close the great show These sychophants, they all get up and take a gentle bow; It’s time for questions, they want my help, I tell them just how, If they navigate the north block, they can milk a sterile cow; They want to know, how I’ll solve, the problem of water, They can’t believe that I turn out to be just an ordinary joker; These businesswalas, always greedy, asking for the moon, Not like my sala, who only needs, an interest free loan; In the end, its all over, now its upto the spin doctor, Thank God, to my defense is the great CNN anchor; On my return, I introspect, how good was my speech? Once bitten, I admit, this Pappu should never Preach! http://www.theunrealtimes.com/2013/04/08/rahul-gandhi-pens-a-poem-about-his-cii-speech/

Sachin=GOD Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Please dont get into riots...the other part has a more chequered past. as for nepotism and corruption...it is embedded in every party. and yes they are equally to be blamed for failures and corruption. my basic point was that the furore over dynasty politics is a misplaced one..they are facing a election and winning...if the people were so against them..then defeat them in election and you can get rid of them...if development is the only criterion...then why not Nitish Kumar..who is acceptable to all of India but it was Congress that showed them the way both in promoting members of the same family and in corruption and they are still leading the charge in both even now. Talking of other parties, BJP and Communists are the only large political parties in the country where the leadership is not passed on from father to son - they do have members of the same family active in the party but its not like the Congress where you have to have a particular surname to have any claim towards the leadership of the party. they won the 2009 election more due to a fragmented opposition than due to their good governance/good policies. Uttar Pradesh is the biggest state in the country and Pappu has led the Congress campaign in 2007 and 2012 and both times the party has come last among the 4 big parties and more importantly, lost nearly all the seats where he campaigned. He went to campaign in Bihar and Cong won a grand total of 4 seats out of 243 they contested. At every point in his career he has shown that he is not capable of being a National level political leader so the furore over dynasty politics is not wrong in this case. How can you say that he is acceptable to all of India when his party has a presence in just 1 state?
