NCA to join hands with MRF academy

The BCCI is all set to tie up with the MRF Pace Foundation. In a meeting held on Monday, the NCA agreed to take the assistance of the Chennai-based pace foundation to help with its pace bowlers. "We used to have an understanding with MRF before but it stopped in between. We have decided to renew the partnership and all our pacers will be sent there henceforth," a BCCI official said. Earlier this year, MRF had roped in Glenn McGrath as director of their pace foundation, to replace another Australian great in Dennis Lillee. The NCA in Bangalore will now focus only on skill development, rehabilitation of players and educational programmes. BCCI will also set up a doctors' panel which will include experts in sports medicine, to try and ensure that players don't have to travel abroad for diagnosis and treatment. "We always sent our players to Australia, South Africa and England for expertise as we don't have sports medicine facilities here. BCCI wants to have a panel of doctors, who can be from India or abroad, to look after players when they are injured," the official added. Meanwhile, the NCA board has cut down the NCA's staff from twelve to six. Bowling coach Bharat Arun, batting coach Dinesh Nanavati and coaches' instructor Kinjal Suratwala will remain on the BCCI payroll, while support staff members Ashish Kaushik, Nitin Patel and trainer Sudarshan have also been asked to continue. BCCI will take the help of former cricketers and use their services for short periods to help junior cricketers. IPL to seek help of TN govt Meanwhile, the IPL governing council will seek the help of the Tamil Nadu government and local authorities to ensure the security of Sri Lankan players during the IPL playoff matches to be played in Chennai next month. Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium is scheduled to host a qualifier on May 21 and an eliminator on May 22. "IPL will seek their advice and if the situation is the same then it's likely that Bangalore will have to host those two games," an IPL official said.

BCCI on a cost cutting spree. They have realized after years how useless their NCA bowling unit has been. Hopefully the recognition from BCCI will revive MRF and help them improve our pacers, something which the NCA was never able to achieve.

Just waste of time.since from a very long time mrf could not produce a good pace bowler.
