The players were paid obscene amounts for IPL and their act of spot fixing amounts to fraud against the RR owners. Link to comment
Zelig
How does the interrogation work? :hmmm: Does the Police manhandle these players or they are given special treatment? Link to comment
G_B_
How does the interrogation work? :hmmm: Does the Police manhandle these players or they are given special treatment? they start with mind games. Tell the them that the others have confessed to it all and are blaming the player (who is being interrogated). Play them hard evidence. If that does not work then its the dark arts.... Sachin=GOD
So they are allowed to beat up the suspects? :hmmm: I guess they are not allowed according to the rule books but rules are rarely followed so if they don't co-operate then this will happen again: Link to comment

Play them hard evidence. If that does not work then its the dark arts.... All they have to do is play a bit of recorded phone call to them and claim that you have more evidence they will fold. Very reason they got involved was under the assumption they won't get caught. Hardcore criminals would have prepared themselves for consequences. I suspect these clowns would have been prepared for such repercussions. It might or might not stand in court. But their names are tainted forever. Link to comment

That I don't want it. That I resent the fact that I have to sit here and answer this. We are honest people." Zelig
One of my brother's college mates murdered his ex-girl friend coz she betrayed him. He cut her throat in front of her class room in daylight but he didn't try to escape and surrendered to the police. I've heard/read that the cops don't beat you up if you surrender. Don't know how far it's true. PS: Now, the guy is doing his time in an asylum in Mumbai Link to comment
Straight Drive
How does the interrogation work? :hmmm: Does the Police manhandle these players or they are given special treatment? They slap to start with. For severe crimes they actually beat if they are sure the accused has done crime and not confessing. Once i told a guy "Chotta Rajan aur Dawood bhi Mumbai police se darr ke bahar bhag gaye hai, tu kya cheez hai". "Tera chahe to career barbaad kar sakta hu yaha".He got so scared. The police comissioner started laughing on hearing that and that boy (about 26 years old) accepted all his crime. So depends mind games work sometimes and if the dialogue baazi is good enough to get them confess.Otherwise slap in jail.Third degree is allowed only in certain cases.Approval is required for that. Not going to do that to celebrities. Will not be admissible in court plus their lawyers can take the plice @ss on such cases. I don't understand why the video recording process is not getting the nod during interrogation in petty cases. It will save a lot of court time and money at least against small time criminals who confess during interrogation itself. Magneto
a) Even if Sreesanth spills some beans during interrogation, he'll surely withdraw it later and fight the case as 'not guilty'. His lawyer has given clear signs of that. b) The case against Sreesanth may not be that strong if they cannot identify a money trail. However if they can prove that Sree was regularly in touch with Jiju on the very same days Jiju was in touch with the bookies, they may have a case. But the money trail may be the key component in this case. c) One of Chandila or Chavan may turn 'approver' and testify against Sreesanth. That might be a key weapon for the police here. It will be interesting to see whether Chandila or Chavan sign confessional statements and stand by it. d) All confessions given to police are useless. All criminals do that and later retract their statements saying they have been made to sign under duress. Link to comment
