He has only been Tamil Nadu president for 8 years and took over only around the same time ofr the takeover at BCCI. LM was around from before and he was the one who put all sorts of cases on Dalmiya and disqualified him.

yes but Srinivasan was poised to become the TN cricket president. Muthiya has already been president of bcci for 3 years. Pawar bet on him for future potential. What srinivasan did was swing TN in line with Pawar's block. Pawar already had the support of Baroda Maharashtra (his real power base) and Viderbha. Add Gujarat Saurashtra and Punjab along with TN and he had enough. I dont think even Dalmiya was actually in charge of the BCCI when these three made their move. It was his pawn Mahendra who was in charge. A bit like Manohar in charge after Pawar.

Hyderabad: An alleged cricket bookie was nabbed from the international airport in Hyderabad by a Delhi Police team in the early hours on Friday. "One person identified as Mohammad Yahya has been picked up from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in connection with the cricket betting racket by the Delhi Police team in the wee hours," a senior police official said. Yahya was picked up by police while he was trying to board a flight to Dubai, the official said."Mohammad Yahya, a resident of Mumbai, was arrested from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. He was trying to flee to Dubai," Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar said. He said Yahya is being brought to Delhi and that they believe that his questioning may throw "some fresh light" into the case. However, he refused to elaborate, saying they will reveal details at an appropriate time.

They believe that his arrest may lead the investigators to the "doors of another IPL team", which is alleged to be involved in the betting racket. The Commissioner had on Thursday said that at least three more players and one more IPL team is under the scanner for spot-fixing in the tournament.

People also need to keep in mind that prior to Pawar making his foray into cricket, (which he did in the early 00s) the BCCI presidency was on a rotational basis. I do believe it North, South, Central, East, West What happened during Pawar tenure was that he held the reigns from the West (mumbai) while his pawn held the reigns from central (Viderbha) even though both Mumbai and Viderbha are part of the same state Maharashtra. Similarly Mahendra was a stooge of Dalmiya and got the presidency from the north. The plan from Dalmiya was to install another stooge.

LM first tried from Saurashtra/Gujarat but was unsuccessful. I did not exactly have the backing of the Raje government either. Dixit was always a thorn for him even when he was IPL commissioner. Even if Srini was not president in title. He knew exactly how to sway TN board. That made him important. You ever wonder why we had a cheif selector from TN when board presidents were from maharashtra and now vice versa? Pawar and Srini struck a deal. That was the compromise.
