Entire Indian cricket establishment is compromised

Check his ibnlive interview yesterday. Constantly whinning about IPL and srini. Does not seem to think beyond that. The question as to whether IPLs has credibility issues is stupid. Indian cricket as a whole is facing a credibility issue here.
Is it? Let us examine the facts - players in the past have been suspended in the IPL for having under table deals with franchisees, spot fixing in IPL 5 and IPL 6. Why shouldn't the IPL have credibility issues? Just because it provides entertainment?
This is a naive statement. A lot of people escaped axing in 2000. Kapil and Sunil stil sound dubious to me. And they have very close access to players. 2003 worldcup and 2007 worldcup had match fixing accusations as well. IPL did not exist then.
Ha! On one hand you defend IPL credibility which has been marred by multiple proven fixing scandals while on the other hand you are audacious enough to charge Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar (seriously?) of charges which have neither been said nor have been proven in court. I do not agree with S=G that IPL bought in corruption in cricket but to say that it has not encouraged ease of access to malpractices is kidding yourself. Oh and btw, just because corruption existed earlier is not a great argument to make IPL credible enough.

Under the table deals have happened in every league including EPL to overcome team budgets. I seriously do not see the huge cry about that. It is not illegal in my opinion. Does not affect the players performance for which I pay out of my pocket. Spot fixing in IPL 5 & IPL 6 are still to be proven. Last year the issue was with some fixing in unauthorized T20 tournament. This year all we are hearing is neraj kumar giving interviews everyday. Neeraj kumar does not decide if the players are guilty. The charges need to stand in court. Sunil Gavaskar did have some unexplained money that was never fully investigated in 2000. Also look at the tehelka expose the mumbai crime banch inspector doubted Sunny. Cricket as a whole has a credibility issue. If IPL can be fixed by fringe players I think it is safe to assume a lot of ranji games and International games are being fixed. We should look at the bigger issue rather than bashing IPL alone. Most of the people who bash IPL are opportunists who want the end of the tournament. Nothing else. Read this article on Ajay jadejas marraige http://www.thatscricket.com/news/2001/03/31/310301ians-jadeja.html BCCI and political bosses were there. It is safe to assume atleast one of them was involved in match fixing. So it was rampant and easy even before IPL.

I dont get why some fans get so jumpy when BCCI is brought into spotlight. Its really foolish to think with the amount of money in IPL its corruption-free. He's a journalist, his job is to report not to prosecute BCCI.

People are used to defend BCCI against other countries :giggle: Its like how caste, religion matters during votes , BCCI also looks like a savior against foreign attack

When the IPL first began, I remember Pradeep Magazine raising several of these concerns about potential problems with the IPL. But back then league the tamasha league organizers and its supporters were too busy having a collective orgasm to be able to see what a disaster in the making this tamasha league was going to be. People will still go to the tamasha league because, despite increased money, a lot of people in India still lack better entertainment options. That doesn't change the fact that in terms of cricketing merit, this league is trash (yes there are a few world class players like Steyn/de Villiers but look at the dross they play against) and far, far worse, this is a complete haven for all sorts of shady goings on - at all levels, not just the Indian cricketers who can in any case be bought off by the promise of some designer jeans and a couple of call girls.

So just because EPL and everyone does it; everything is fine with the IPL, eh? Your comparisons are also way out of the place. First, you compare EPL have never had spending limits all over the years. It is only just 2 months back that it has agreed to spending limits. Second, under hand deals (regardless of any of our opinion) is illegal so that's that. You may think it is ok but the rules of the game are not decided by you and me. Next, cricket has a credibility issue automatically implies IPL has a credibility issue since once is a superset of the other. Next, fixing in Ranji games have relatively low probability due to the money involved. It can be done who denies but so can fixing happen in the Kirit Somaiyya Mumbai Krida tournament as well. Everything besides I find the inconsistency out of place. IPL - Still to be proven charges so innocent until guilty. Sunil Gavaskar - Look at xyz reports blah blah blah First decide what you want to believe; media or court. Currently, it is according to your convenience and if that's the stand I wouldn't want to bother.

Ask him to show the proof. I can say he is with Dawood.

That's the reason we have courts. The least one can do is file a case at least if one has so much of conviction.

Regarding the fixing comments on older generation players, even if it had been true it would have been more difficult to provide solid proof back then. Today's booking nexus seems to employ texting messages and newer technologies extensively and once the police get a hint you are a sitting duck. Moreover, most of the players use laptops and newer technologies in connection with their fixing operations and leave behind hard unerasable proof (all of your files, chats, emails, sms etc), and any of these devices would turn against them once they are caught. The players of the previous era were less sophisticated and that meant collecting hard evidence against them was not so easy.

^^ Good joke as if Indian courts routinely dish out justice
No no, justice is given by TOI and Tehelka in India. The American constitution regularly ask their opinion as well. In fact, the only reason America has not attacked Syria is because Tehelka has adviced against it.
