Time to drop Tendulkar ?

Tendulkar should be dropped from the test team. India were going along nicely 'til he walked in and f*cked up everything. He needs to go back to domestic cricket and play a season for Mumbai; learn how to build an innings before he costs us more matches. Lara or Ponting would never have p*ssied around for 14 runs off 2984398 balls like he did. The guy has become a total liability, especially when the team needs him. Even his most ardent supporters must have smelled the coffee by now.

Re: Time to drop Tendulkar ? Knee Jerk reaction to a awful decision Not sure we are watching the same match.... Ganguly and Dravid were left /Right combo. The lines Pollock and Harris were bowling are very negative.Sachin can only score if he is bowled at stumps and has to play a patient game...It is not as if he is trying to play slow deliberately.

Re: Time to drop Tendulkar ? Expected much better from you Predator. The guy has been one of the best from the side on the current tour and you are talking about dropping him. He got a wrong decision today and was scoring slow because of negative bowling tactics. I thought it was pretty obvious to see.

Re: Time to drop Tendulkar ?

Of course' date=' he is to be blamed for RD and Laxman's dismissals too[/quote'] Stop making excuses. You're coming across as a hero-worshipper - no sense of objectivity whatsoever. It's as if you jump up and down everytime someone lays a finger on him. Own up to the fact that Tendulkar playing like sh*t has cost India the game. The team was cruising when Dravid and Ganguly were out there; scoring freely at 3 an over. India were well in control, and all Tendulkar needed to do was play a calm innings at a strike rate of 40 or 50...that would have sufficed. Instead, he put too much pressure on himsef, looked tentative, went into a shell and most importantly - didn't keep the scoreboard ticking over. Now India are in dire straits. If he would have scored a 130 ball 40 like Dravid, i wouldn't even be saying this - he would have done his part. But 13 off 64 balls ?! What the f*ck. You can fly over any loser from FC cricket, ask him to play out 60 balls for 10 runs on a pitch like this, and he will manage it. That's the standard Tendulkar has descended to.

I didn't want him to play a scintillating innings. Just a solid effort, a good 40 would have been enough. I would never criticise someone for making runs. Sure, he got a crap decision but it's not like he was stopped dead in his tracks while playing a whirlwind innings. 13 off 61 balls ? Is THAT you guys expect from him ? Come on !

I can understand Predator's point though. We expect our (all time) great to somehow will us to victory. A smashing century to propel us to a lead of 300 would have been nice. Oh well, we all can dream, can't we? I say to people, accept that he is not an all time great. He is a player who had a great decade and has been on the decline for a while now. But he has proven with this series performance that he definitely belongs to the test team.

Re: Time to drop Tendulkar ? How may times those 13 off 61 balls have converted to 50 off 100 balls and 100 off 150 balls? Now you are losing it...Take a break and see the match again. He is timing right, the paddle sweeps are coming good and making correct judgements. The only thing is he did not show urgency and rightly so. He knows how to pace innings , you dont have to teach him

Re: Time to drop Tendulkar ? Don't know about dropping him but today's inning was PATHETIC. RD can be excused for this because that's the way he bats and everyone is expected to bat around him. And he scored 40+. But SRT showed no intent whatsoever. Even a 50-55 SR knock from him would have taken us past 200.

Re: Time to drop Tendulkar ? Stop being so damn partisan. I have been watching Tendulkar play for years. Tendulkar IS an all-time great and the best batsman India has ever produced. He has given me the most memorable moments i've experienced as an Indian supporter. But that isn't blinkering my vision, and doesn't stop me from accepting the fact that he is well past his best and has become a very fallible batsman; prone to failing more often than not, as indicated by his recent performances. There is NO excuse for playing like this - this kind of innings isn't appropriate for ANY scenario. Is asking him to score even a 50 or something off a 100 balls too much now ?

That's your assertion, so why don't YOU tell me ?! Whenever Tendulkar has played like this; he has always failed. I know - i've watched him for too many years now.

Re: Time to drop Tendulkar ? For once I ask you are you guys watching it or just following strike rates.... Because when I watched period Sachin Batted there were no lose balls bowled and there were negative attacks.. If you observe more carefully Sachin changed his gaurd to Harris and trying to Paddle sweep from the rough. Ganguly and Dravid were Right /Left combo and the lines from Bowlers have to be changed. Sachin was facing Pollock and Harris in negative lines.....

Imagine ! Just 25 more runs or so, and India would have been safe long ago. With the tailenders to follow, 250 would have been a formality. That's ALL he needed to do !! I just can't believe it.

I am watching it. Sure, SA were bowling negative lines and attempting to restrict runs but i saw no positive intent from Tendulkar. 13 off 61 balls is inexcusable - i jsut don't know how you can defend such a poor effort.

Predator' date=' time for you to go see a shrink dude or clean up your ears so that you can hear the commentry[/quote'] Is that the best you can come up with ? laugh.gif Seriously, if you don't have anything relevant to say, just avoid the thread. I don't think much of personal comments and i won't bother replying to them again.

Re: Time to drop Tendulkar ? And you want the lump of fat that is Sehwag to hang around in the team?? Tendulkars 60+ in the 1st Innings was vital. As was his 60odd in the last test. Hes not to be blamed for RDs and VVSls dismissals...both are comfortable playing out 150 balls 50s. None would have felt the pressure of scoring quickly. So NO he did NOT fack up the innings. The time to drop Sehwag is very much upon us
