If I'm not wrong' date=' he even thinks Kapil Dev/Sunil Gavaskar are not legends. :cantstop:[/quote'] Kapil Dev yes.. not sunny... the dwarf is wayyy too overated.

by saket's yardstick' date=' even sir viv wouldnt be an ATG because of his average[/quote'] I have no problem in accepting in opinion but his cherry picking is what gets to me. He posted a reason as to why Dravid did not dominate. I posted Tendulkar's stats in the same period - now lets see if he's consistent or changes the goal post.

Inzaman is >>> Ganguly for sure.. against dravid, I would say it's a tie or that Inzaman has a slight edge. Ponting on the other hand is way ahead IMO.. His captaincy records are indisputable. He was ICC player of the decade quite rightfully so. XaRolCj.png

and so is Tendulkar. That doesn't stop from making Tendulkar a legend of the game. I would be curious to know why is Gavaskar over rated, if you have a reason i.e.

This is just a comparison of stats for the time period given in that STUPID outlook cover and a REASONABLE deduction of rankings from the same considering over all career average.

And Viv Richards >> Inzamam. We're talking about Indian greats of the game in this thread which includes Dravid, Tendulkar and Ganguly. Add to that Sehwag and Laxman, and India has had probably the best batting line up in her entire cricket history.

BS prediction. Ganguly retired from ODIs in 2007.. so not 10 years.. and Ganguly averaged less than 35 in ODI 3 years before retirement and a meager 42 in tests 3 years before retirement. Dravid averaged 43 in tests from 2005 thru 2008 and 39 in ODI for the same duration. Great for India? Yes.. But I wouldn't call that as "World Domination" by a far shot. There have been only a few ATG in cricket... guys like Ponting, Sachin, Sobers, Murali, Warne etc all in that category... I hate it how desis put above average to average players on the pedastal. Blind Idolatry much?
:hysterical::hysterical: Dravid averaged 43 for 4 years from 2005 to 2008, right? Ponting averaged 40 for 11 years of his career from 1995-2001 and from 2009-2012.

Please enlighten us rankings of Sunil Gavaskar. I am allowed to call a casual statistic you used to bulk up your point and so I did. Will you agree that statistic was irrelevant in the whole discussion? Now, for once post your parameters of LEGEND-ness and then we shall have a nice discussion. :two_thumbs_up:

Gavaskar has pretty good records when it comes to tests.. granted the dwarf was very good at facing fast bowlers of his era.. but he also had most amount of ducks amongst his peers.. Average was also only DECENT in both tests and ODI... Again.. these were good players.. but you guys are smoking weed if you think they are legends.

Quit basing things only on my 1st post.. Look at the ratings of these players...More than averages, you need to look at how they compared against their peers. Best player/Legend Status is a conglomeration of a lot of parameters.

Tendulkar in his 102nd innings had an average of 38.8 and Gavaskar has an average of 35.13. It's not Gavaskar's fault that Tendulkar has played 4 times the number of games Gavaskar has. Remember Gavaskar was not born in the ODI era. This is akin to saying Bradman had no ODI 100 and hence is not a legend. I would argue that Tendulkar is not a legend because he couldn't score more than 10 runs in T20Is. :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:

And BTW, Akram was never ranked number 1 and is easily considered an all time great.

Yes yes that is what I said. You have some serious problem with basic comprehension skills. I said THAT one particular statistic was not a differentiating factor. So stop posting straw man arguments. Without indulging in ad hominem, you posted a statistic about Dravid from 2005-2008 and called him not world dominating. I posted back a reply saying that Tendulkar averaged around the same in that time frame. Will you now agree (by your own very yardstick) that Tendulkar was not world dominating either (in the same time frame) ?

No.. we are talking about the Outlook cover.. which is about "World Domination". Reading Comprehension helps.
